It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Total .pros registered reached 43,719 in Sep 09, up 3.4% on Aug 09. The rise of 1,447 in Sep 09 was 40% up on the gain of 1,035 in Aug 09. That's the biggest step up in the month on month rate of growth since the Sep 08 landrush.

Of the .pro registrars, Encirca is performing strongest, up 5.94% in Sep 09 to 10,467. The biggest .pro registrar, Network Solutions, is the weakest performer, up just 0.7% in the month to 10,890 .pros.

Oct 09 will be the first big drop month, 10,512 .pros got regged in Sep 08 so it will be interesting to see how many get dropped.

Based on some rough extrapolations I did on Encirca's delete feed, up to 10,000 2008 landrush .pros have been dropped in the last 4 months.

Encirca is likely to regain its position as the biggest .pro registrar by the end of 2009 because they have fewer 2008 landrush .pros out of their total .pros registered.

Total.pro had 1,683 hits in the last month, that's the highest traffic month to date.

There's nothing wrong with the picture. Click on the icon.

I have a ton of work to do now. That's what I do. Work, and make money. I don't spend my time scouring the forums for nits to pick.

If anyone would like to see copies of ALL of the PMs and emails that were passed between myself and JacobC, I will be more than happy to compile them this week and PM or email them to anyone who would like to see them. I would very much like for everyone to see what JacobC from New York or Miami or Bangkok or wherever he's really from (??) is really like.

Have a good one.

The link is just a jpg that does nothing.
You PM'd me ... I don't hate .pro's, I own over 10 keyword pros, some of which I've had for 3 years or so, and I've sold some here recently. I'm just not buying anymore that aren't substantially better than the decent ones I got. The last .PRO I sold was recording.pro to the (multiple Grammy-winning) brother of a good friend of mine.
That was a good one and I let it go cheap, because it is a friend. Anyway... I still have keyboard.pro. Not as good as cats.pro anyway. treadmill.pro which I paid aeiou.com to create a mini-site isn't worth anything and never gets clicks or on the first page because there's too much competition. EstiBot originally appraised it high, now low.

Anyway, one thing you mentioned about Jacob in your PM to me is that he goes by multiple names/places. I noticed something like that too. But then again maybe he wants to protect his privacy so he doesn't get ripped off :) Around here, he's JacobC, and I don't think anyone has had problems dealing with him but you.

Anyway, I was sort of shocked by his story, and just reacted, but since I don't know what the hell is going on and starting not to care, I think I'll just butt the hell out now.

First of all the picture does not work on my end either, but I really don't care about stats.

I have no idea what went on it the Cats.pro deal and really don't care that much. But, I do know if someone made claims about me that were not true, I would defend it.

Brad

Defended above.

You should also take a look at the Trades that I have made on NP and the 2000 plus (100%) positive feedbacks that I have on ebay. HatterasBayTraders. (Feedback should be 1763, not 2000)

Geez. Send me an email address and I'll send the pic.

How cheap is dirt cheap? Be glad to PM the list.

If anyone has any questions about this, please email me at [email protected]. My email notification system from NP never has worked properly and I have to get some other work done. I'm also on FaceBook ... Charles Lowe

Thanks

Thanks.
Statbrain.com also shows that cats.pro has 148 visits per day. They might not be unique but who cares? As far as cats.pro is concerned, it’s a good name regardless of traffic, wish you good luck.

Thank you Jawed. The pic I took was showing about 44 per day. I don't know where all of these stats are coming from but it doesn't really matter. But thank you.

Charles

Too Much Competition

That was a good one and I let it go cheap, because it is a friend. Anyway... I still have keyboard.pro. Not as good as __.pro anyway. treadmill.pro which I paid aeiou.com to create a mini-site isn't worth anything and never gets clicks or on the first page because there's too much competition. EstiBot originally appraised it high, now low.

You mentioned too much competition. I'm definitely not very much of an SEO guy but I pay someone who is. The first thing he taught me was to avoid the heavy-hitting competition. We stay on the fringe buying domains that can generate plenty of traffic and money and still avoid the heavy competition. I own one or two mainstream names ... ----- and -----. But I don't think that I could manage a site like ----- without hiring people. So for now they are just sitting ... static.

What we really go for to develop is the slightly off center stuff. The numbers are exact searches.

---------

Two-word coms can make you rich too. Check out Rick Latona's last auction. Looked like about 75% were two-word dot coms.

Well I'm going to stop babbling now. Later. Charles.

Do you mind if I ask what your monthy or yearly take on WirelessDoorbell.net?

Is there anyone right now who's bringing in substantially more than $60 - $100 on a mini-site? Not that they don't add up. It just takes a *lot* of them to make a dent.

I had a minisite that was making $200+ a month for consistent 2+ years and then I sold it last year sometime for $3.5k

It was sweet lil' thing in medical niche, an all automated !! ;)

Hi Sky

I'm going to try to answer your question but I've been bouncing from project to project for so long now that nothing is complete. But I'll tell you what we've done.

But first, check out -----. Amazing! Type in " ----- " and we come in third spot. The site is just sitting ... no ---, no maintenance. It's linked to ----- and they handle the sales, but they stopped conducting business with -- because of our internet taxes (that might have been resolved by now). We get a trickle of sales but it goes to my partner's (friend's) account in ----- so I don't know what we make. It's very little. And ------- shows that the site gets no visits at all ... ever. So go figure.

When my web designer first put the site up, we shot up ------ and sat on page two in spots 15, 16, 17 for a month or two. Then one day we were gone. My partner said it was because we let it sit too long without any content change, so ------ slapped us down hard. I don't know jack about ----- so I don't know what happened. But check out who is in the number five spot ... -------. He/she has been there for a long time.

Prior to working on any of our mini-sites, ----- was my Mega Site. But it too is just sitting. No maintenance, no seo. I was denied a trademark so I didn't see any need in pouring money into a potential dead end. Now I know a little more about trademarks and I think I'll try again in the future, but it ain't cheap.

Our next stop was -----. I think you know that story.

Somewhere along in there after -----, after -----, and during ----, money got low, I got frustrated, and I pulled the plug on the money. Truth is the guy in ----- is not really my partner. He is in a few ways, like ----- and
-----, but I pay for everything. We became pretty good friends and I never have been able to call anyone an employee, so I call him my partner. It's just easier to say in conversation. I do the same with Arjun. He's a mod here on NP and a student in New Delhi. Arjun is working on a site for me too. He is fast and good. And when you need him he responds immediately. I think his BlackBerry rings him up. Check out his work at Creative Suite.

The guy in ----- is ----- . Check him out. He's a fairly successful artist and has done three shows since I've known him. Therein lies another problem in developing the mini-sites. When he gets a call to do a show, I lose him. Or 95% of him anyway. He just began work on our next site last week. It has a lot of potential and I'm really excited about it. I'll tell you the name when there's something to see.

I realize that I haven't even touched on answering your question because I don't know yet. Andy and Arjun are working on that stuff while I buy and sell ... usually just buy. But a couple of really nice people have taught me a lot about domaining. So I'm going to keep domaining while Andy and Arjun build sites.

If you want to learn anything about anything, go introduce yourself to Bruce Tedeschi. He's full of knowledge. He and his brother have been domaining and building minisites for 12 years and have done very well. You can find him at GenericCCTLDs.com or at DNaffiliates.com. He's also on FaceBook.

I will say one thing about mini-sites, especially the ones that are basically set on autopilot. I don't care for them. I think that as people, technology and the Web gets more and more sophisticated, mini-sites will eventually be weeded out. I like "small" sites. My goal is to have four or five that I can manage myself.

-----
-----
-----

... and maybe two others. Actually, a few people tell me that ----- has a lot of potential. Even if it does, I don't want to base my retirement on one site.

I have a handful of info's that might do well but I haven't done anything with them.

Gotta run. Talk soon.
Charles

PS: My step daughters got to the point that they were afraid to ask me questions about their homework. Can you guess why? D-:

Chas, you should set up a Google Analytics account. Unless you know where your traffic is coming from, how long people are staying for, where your site ranks for different search phrases, and which links are sending traffic you have no idea what sort of value for money you are getting from your SEO.

If I had to estimate how many visitors your site got from the code, content, domain, links, page rank, search engine results etc, I would say virtually none. If you are getting 1,100 visitors per month, it surprises me. I would be concerned that whoever you are paying to do the SEO is bulk buying pop up traffic and sending a trickle to you.
