It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it.

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

1) This is the .PRO discussion, not the .TEL one.

2) That .TEL is a dead extension is just my opinion.

3) There are more and high .TEL sales, just because .TEL company knows about marketing and .PRO one not.

4) I sincerely wish you good luck with your .TEL business, but, as webmaster, I prefer .PRO.

5) Total.pro is not mine.

And, I am sorry but I am not going to talk more about .TEL, because I have no time for it.

Sure, .pro is a gTLD so it works like .com, .net, etc for SEO. Probably better, because it's more exclusive, with less sites, so with less spam ones.

And, always that I show a site / domain to any barely Internet user, they always say something like: "Oh, I didn't know about .pro, but it sounds really COOL!" :wave:

I'm with you 8000% I have some choice strong keyword .pros saved off for serious development.

There is no question that .pro's best days on the web a ahead. A lot of people are trying to build up their pros, but it takes time when it's just a few entrepreneurs. I still think the .PRO registry is too snooty for .pro, considering how full of holes and weird double standards and ambiguities their legal language is.

They're only succeeding in scaring off buyers, not visitors.

Talking about them in domainers forums just make that you, me and some other people loose good chances for getting .pro domains at good prices, but it doesn't help the extension.

If you are picking up premium .pros for $59 on SnapNames, .pro isn't going to get far. For .pro to take off, 100's of people have to bid against eachother on SnapNames for the best drops. That drives up prices, puts people off dropping names, encourages people to register longer, less commercial keywords, this makes premium keywords more scarce and prestigious as development projects.

If RegistryPro auctions 1,2 and 3 letter .pros you want 100's of bidders to generate interest in the extension and make is desirable. If it's just me, you and the dog, .pro is dead. Getting a $59 bargain on SnapNames is a false economy, it just means that there isn't much of a market to sell it into and if you develop it, hardly anybody will take the site seriously.

Selling a .pro for $7,000 is against the run of play for domains registered fairly recently. If that was the norm, Vincent Laio could have sold his collection for $XXX,XXX, and that isn't the case, he broke it up at a loss, but full credit to him, he generated alot of interest, sold average .pros at more than they have ever sold for, and recover a big slice of his outlay on reg fees. I'm pretty sure that if he sold any of the .pros he registered in March 2005 for $7,000, he wouldn't have ended up selling premium keywords at $200-$300.

Raising .pro is like raising the Titanic. It's a massive undertaking, and won't work while 3-4 guys on a forum divide up dropped .pros between them. If RegistryPro don't change that situation before ICANN start selling new extensions .pro will have no resale value whatsoever. The massive success of extensions like .tel that you can't even develop into a convention website highlights how poor RegistryPro is at promoting the extension. As I pointed out in one of blog articles on Total.pro, the .asia registry sold 10 times more domains in 24 hours that RegistryPro sold in 5 years and 2 landrushes. Although what I do may look like I'm shooting myself in the foot, I'm trying to promote the extension.

If you sold a .pro for $7,000, you could have done everybody a big favour by reporting it. It would have increased the likelihood of you or anybody selling another .pro for $7,000.

I own several "premium" .pro domains, so we are in the same ship, but IMHO there are only 2 ways for raise a TLD:

1) Making a big marketing launch with pre-orders, premium auctions... and putting all this at all domain news media and market systems. This is the usual way, made with: .mobi, .asia, .me, .tel, etc.

2) Building good high traffic sites those final users know.

For me, all the other ways mean loosing the time. This is just my mind!

And, of course, I respect you if you want to continue writting long posts at domainers forums and informing every speculators how to backorder .pro domains.

One question... I have catched several .pro at Snapnames and, when I win, they always kick the domain directly to my Encirca account (the one for Snapnames, I have another account older) WITH MY INFO just few minutes after the auction.

So... Why Chess.pro whois data are Encirca's ones several days later that auction? Anybody knows? :gl:

Maybe because whoever bought it didn't have an account at Encirca and hasn't had their details checked so there is no verified account to transfer it to.

That is not possible, due to, although I have an older verified account at Encirca, domains from Snapnames go to another new unverified account with my info from my Snapnames account...

(I use to change the whois info and to move every domain to my verified account just some minutes after I won them)

Solved mystery: The domains is on "Payment Pending" status.

The smart guy who inflated the auction is not paying now. Very nice!

Template.pro is dropping early June.

I picked up Template.pro at SnapNames for $64, there were 2 other $59 opening bids but neither bidder went above that. I think it's a solid keyword, I'm surprised nobody bid against me.

Templates.com sold for $450,000 in Sep 06, Templates.info sold for $1,399 in Sep 05, Template.es sold for $921 in Dec 06, and Template.ws sold for $1,000 in Nov 08. On Sedo, Template.biz has 7 bids, Templates.at has 4 bids, Template.me, Templates.nl, Template.mobi and Templates.mobi have 2 bids, and Template.co.in, Template.info, Template.tv, Templates.tel, Templates.cc all have 1 bid.

"Professional template" has 1.14m Google uniques, "Professional Templates" has 4.88m Google uniques, "Professional Chef" had 443k Google uniques and Chef.pro sold for $3,650, "Freelance Professional" had 63k
Google uniques and Freelance.pro sold for $5,440.

If anybody's thinking of dropping something like Template.pro, please run it by me via PM, if it has a logical fit and has sold in 4-5 extensions, I will usually pay $100-$200 for it. It beats dropping it and getting nothing back. Mainly looking for 05 and 06 registrations, examples of what I have picked up pre-drop include Salon.pro and London.pro, I paid $150 for each.

Korea.pro is the next stand out drop on SnapNames, currently 5 people trying to catch it, including me. The biggest mistake I made with .pro was too much volume and not enough quality, SnapNames is a great way of restoring that balance on a budget.

There are more than a few 'good keywords' available, but I'd recommend getting only those with a development plan, for the simple reason is that the aftermarket is as it is slow and .pro aftermarket is even slower.

Over the last few days a lot of .pros have been offered for resale on NP that are a lot better in quality than the stuff you can register. Price differentials will be there but then thats at both purchase and sale prices. :p

I quit dot pro, sold my entire .pro 3 months ago but today I change my mind and did register a .pro that was apraise 12,000 $ according to domain apraisal dot pro, even my best dot pro I have sold was only valued at $7,000 only so I think I found the gem.
After I reg my dot pro (Treadmills) I also wanted to reg (treadmill valued for $6000) in case of but oh surprise it was taken and have a nice website live made by "aeiou"

Whew! I just snapped korea.pro and manager.pro. Not sure if I should be glad. They weren't cheap: More than 900 $ for both.

Otherwise, they're good names, and they fit into my portfiolio.

It was a hard battle with "profan1". :] Next time we'd better come to an agreement first; if each of us took one domain for half the price, it would've been better for both. :gl:

To be honest, I would've stopped at something more than 500.

May be that "profan1" didn't think in to make the payment if he had won, like "smartmanager", the "winner" of chess.pro auction. He inflated the final price and then he has not made the payment yet!
