It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it.

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Interesting to see that 3 of the 4 domains sold on NP member Wot's $200 fixed price sales thread were geo .pros.

Yes, I was aware of that myself. Some quite good country geo .tv & .mobi- along with some quite good .com , .info etc- certainly relative to the prices anyway.

And what sells the .pro :bah:

Encirca has always been a bit sneaky. If this goes through there will be 20-30 gem domains. Im curious if they will action them of first come first served.

registration.

Im going to say auction...it's the biggest money-maker of the three.

Tarot.PRO - Excellent idea and execution. You need user selectable languages though.

How do you manage the video chat bit if you don't mind me asking?

Not seen anything quite like it, though paid cams are common :p

The videochat service is offered by an external Spanish company and I just made a deep integration at the minisite.

Of course, this is just a draft. I hope to make a good site in the future, with service in some languages (managed by GeoIP) and more nice design...

It would be a crime to use this international domain just for one country-language market! :hehe:

Chess.pro sold for $600 today at SnapNames. I offered the owner $250 for it a month ago and they didn't reply. Template.pro is dropping early June.

akcampbell, I sincerely don't understand you. You want to get the domains, but you tell where and when to bid to everybody... Any secret strategy inside?

If nobody bids against me on SnapNames, I pick up the .pro for $59. If 10 people bid against me and the .pro sells for $600, that pushes up the relative value of similar .pros. For example, Chess.pro sold for $600, I hold Puzzle.pro, Quiz.pro, and Crossword.pro. A rising tide lifts all boats.

If a chess fan outbids me for Chess.pro, that's even better, they are more likely to develop the domain, and every .pro that gets developed generates traffic, awareness, and acceptance. That makes it easier for me to develop my .pros.

Bidding competition is good for .pro. When Vincent Liao auctioned his .pro collection on NP, interest in .pro spiked. The volume of posts on this thread and on .pro in general mushroomed. People were asking for appraisals, trying to resell what they had bought, developing minisites, that's all good for spreading awareness.

I sold a .pro last year for $7,000, but I sincerely think that this is not .pro time ... yet. Talking about them in domainers forums just make that you, me and some other people loose good chances for getting .pro domains at good prices, but it doesn't help the extension. :imho:

By the way, I totally agree with development is the key for .pro success. When one or two of the Top 100 Alexa sites (for example) was a .pro, then we will see a new star borning.

And, as webmaster, I would be proud about one of the top .pro sites was mine! :wave:

And since the demand for these keywords is there, but not as much as for the extension, simple development sometimes produces sweet rewards.

Don't develop to promote any extension, take a business decision for creating a profit for your web venture, good usage via logical development will follow.

This is the problem with .pro and all other gTlds because .com is king and .pro, .biz, .us .info... are seen as direct competitor of .com that you need to do something better or as good as a .com like you said Alexa stuff.

For .tel or .TV or maybe .mobi it have a different target of uses.
For .tel it already have a path that's his power.
For .TV looks like people knows more about it (as seen on TV ads)
For .mobi still some difficulties because they did not do anything like .tel so .mobi is really in .mobi development.

I agree, in fact I am webmaster over domainer and I love to develop, so I need good domains for having best sites, because IMHO the domain is one piece more of the site.

As I never know how many sites I will be able to make, I always try to get as many good domains as I could and I, sometimes, sell any of them just for get funds to buy more good domains.

By the way, steveteva, in my mind, .Tel is another died extension, just created for the current registry boss owns another home at the beach. :hehe:

And I really think that .pro is better that .com for some markets. I would never register John.pro, because has no sense for me, but, for example, Pilates.pro is better than Pilates.com (IMHO).

As Mr. Campbell says at Total.pro: ".com is fot amateurs!"

I mean, .pro may have licensing issues of concern to the buy, but to the average visitor (read *traffic*) it can only sound good. A well SEO'd .pro with content plays just as well to the SEs as a .com.

Sure, .pro is a gTLD so it works like .com, .net, etc for SEO. Probably better, because it's more exclusive, with less sites, so with less spam ones.

And, always that I show a site / domain to any barely Internet user, they always say something like: "Oh, I didn't know about .pro, but it sounds really COOL!" :wave:

Ha Ha Ha; LOL, seriously not attacking .pro or you but it's the first time I heard in my all life that .pro is better than .com (pilates)

Also .tel died ext is what all naysayers said and now regret and start to reg or buy at high price .tel domains because they finally understand .tel value and future.

You know I own many .pro in the past (more than a year now) Some are even generic, famous, match .pro and the same name but .com were sold for $100 000
Guess what, I put in Ebay auction (Featured)with a low reserve $100 and It have over 1600 page views, some bids but it didn't even met the reserve price. I also contact end users (over 100) by email, none were interested some even reply by saying it's not worth reg fee because their customers will never type a .pro but .com even the longest domain but .com will be better according to that business owner.
So I sold here on NPs about a week after Ebay listing ended for less than $150 at fixed price I only get some members offering me to buy but at lower price.
So I did understand that .pro have not much future so don't tell .tel is going to die. I then sold my .pro to a NP member (he will recognize himself) Also This domain might be the best .pro I seen in all this thread but won't disclose for the respect of current owner.

I also sold all my .pro to invest in .tel but only have now 1 .pro just because it's a GEO and it's my birth place.

On your website I can see numbers of .pro reg :
