Guys,
.pro is making excellent progress. It would be great to see some equally excited domainers as us buying .pros. Since there is not, the great opportunity of aquiring some really good domains has been openned over the last few years as prices have dropped dramatically.
This door has to be closing. I am still amazed at some potential domain combinations left but the one words are few and far between at this point.
In regards to prime .pro investors and resales..Alot of the larger .pro holders don't appear to be wanting to sell anything premium for less than 10K. That is not going to allow for a whole lot of turnover within the extension and we need that to drive the market forward as most sales do get reported on dnjournal.
At some point the nice drops are going to slow down and dollar sales for premium domains will rise.(I feel we are entering this period now) Things will continue to improve as the extension gets further adopted. .Pro is great, because its been around the block long enough to be recognized and established itself. The extension has already gone through a changeover in its investment base (providing the good name drops many of us were able to pickup over the last 2 yeas..aided by the poor economy) therefore I don't think we are going to see further large domain drops within the existing registrant base in this extension over the next few years. Everyone left still seems to be accumulating.
Ok, that said..the future is bright..the world of the internet can change quickly. Whats cool is that..it just takes a big domain investor to gain interest in the extension or company promoting a .pro website to provide the push we need.(we just saw a startup
elive.pro using a .pro extension as reported by encirca)
I feel very positively that we are headed for continued growth. I wouldn't waste your energy about young domainers on other boards getting distracted. .Pro is one of the few opportunities I see for investors of any size to hit big! Its not going to be like .co or the other big splashes..more like something people are going to wake up to and say wow..why didn't I invest in dot pro?!
I know there is alot of concerns over new extensions being released. However, I'm even feeling that some of this right of the .dot stuff is not going to have as much bang as expected. .Pro is very relevant to a broader class of sites by enhancing a brand providing further definition and edge to business class sites. Few new released .gtld's are going to be able to compete with that as they won't have the broad demographic necessary to support a registry of 100K+ (Many will try). Prepare for another couple of years for all of this to take hold.
Thats my take.
