Colors are powerful. In fact, colors are golbally recognized more than words and evoke powerful emotions. In some cultures, colors even have significant meaning(such as Red in China). Owning the right .com is someting many brands would love but only one can be lucky enough to own the domain. Below is a list of some popular color .com domains and information on the current ownership.

When was this? Monstrous offer for a monstrous domain name, but probably would have accepted that myself.

What that domain could do for the right company, as said would make my top 10 domain names, when you look back at history, wars have been fought over gold.
72million pounds is low for a one of a kind domain and the prestige that goes with it. whew. :)

shouldnt take anything less than £100m

Woah! Didn’t know Color domains are so valuable. Well besides gold,
SILVER would be cool!

The power of well written words overrides anything a color can do
Your statement is well written but I would say that it only applies under certain circumstances - because while (the effect of) a color can reach all (who can see), (the effect of (even well written)) words can reach only those who can (see and) read (or listen).

we are talking about colors not people ;)
Black is not a color; a black object absorbs all the colors of the visible spectrum and reflects none of them

Another 'Black swan theory'... (which stipulated black swans did not exist).

In reality, Black evolved all colors of the spectrum... from Black space to White star (which took about 200 million years). [You're Welcome! :xf.wink:]. It then 'collapsed' / exploded stars and evolved planet spectrums;
Black soil to Green trees. 'Black waters' to blue whales. And, Humanity... Black-to-White, which closed-the-loop and re-entered space... due to evolving the alpha (blind)Brain-to-Mind(sight) spectrum.

Humanity is a spectral species: Black like space, hands like stars, with every color of man in-between.
That is "the power of color".

If that is the case then he is foolish, there comes a point where you probably will not get a higher offer your lifetime.

I know this song and it goes...

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

I am a nightmare walking, psychopath talking
King of my jungle just a gangster stalking
Living life like a firecracker quick is my fuse
Then dead as a deathpack the colors I choose
Red or Blue, Cuz or Blood, it just don't matter
Suckers dive for your life when my shotgun scatters
The gangs of LA will never die just mulitiply colors.

I'm sure I saw a post from the owner/broker of gold.com saying they'd had an offer of 72 million dollars. Might be wrong but I think it was on LinkedIn.

  • I've also seen the Gold.com sale page, but recently couldn't open it

Thanks for great thread, @du6262 and all who have extended it in discussion.

Different colours are better matches to different brands, depending on the feeling you are trying to promote. This infographic from a few years ago on the psychology of colour provides some interesting data on gender preferences for some colours.
