.org >>

Hello.

In view of the recent success of .ORG domain sales, I thought it would be appropriate to discuss the value of the .org extension.

1. Share Recent .ORG Sales

2. Share Your BEST .ORG domains

3. Share Your Opinion on .ORG

---------- Post added at 04:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 AM ----------

Here are some other notable .org sales:

Engineering.org - $198,000
Date.org - sold for $150,000
Attorney.org - $38,500 sold @ SEDO on 9/25/2009
Hockey.org - $22,500 sold @ Moniker Traffic on 11/27/2009
HomeLoans.org - $37,000 sold @Private Sale on 08/19/2009

What's your best .ORG?

One thing I can say about .org is that it ranks very well in all the search engines. Some of my dot orgs that I developed are in the top five spots on all three search engines (google, bing and yahoo). I'm no SEO expert and don't even use .org like it's suppose to be used.

If you've been ignoring dot org, I would start buying some names now, especially if you're a developer. You can out rank the .com in your chosen category. From my end, dot org can be used for any category.

I got some nice .org and hold them many years, including: videopoker.org, she.org, jjj.org,
and also got some green related .org which I think they fit the .org very best.

she.org ... best of luck :great:

Sold Biolo.org on Sedo for 200$ this week.
Not bad for a .99cents coupon code reg... :)

I really like .org's: it give's a educational domain name credibility without having the fading factor of other extensions. Domain names might not have eternal pertinence, but IMHO, think that good ones are safer investment then many .net's.

Ok, I'm with you guys on the .org bandwagon! :D lol

I own the following .orgs

CompanyHealthInsurance.org
DevonAndCornwall.org (good UK geo domain for a directory/holiday site)

And in the HDTV market

HDReadyTv.org
HDBox.org

I am currently looking to sell these either to resellers or end users. Otherwise I will be developing sites on them.

On a side note, when I first started acquiring domains I missed out on some .orgs that I should have bought. You may all have experienced this but I was new to it then and listened to a lot of conflicting opinions. Still, you often learn more from your mistakes and now I use my gut instinct rather than procrastinating.

I recently acquired XHBT.org, which is a very nice domain imo. I am somewhat involved in the arts scene and I have plans in developing this into a hub for exhibit and events purposes.

Also acquired TTLL.org though I don't have any plans for that yet. I was just attracted to the AABB type of pattern it has :P

All I can say is most all of you domainers posting in this thread have missed great opportunities by overlooking the best categories for .org including far and away the most lucrative and highest traffic potential category for a dot-org site, which is health, wellness and disease, a category where some dot-org's can equal or even beat dot-com in value and traffic..

I have been talking about this almost forever on forums and blogs but virtually no one seems to get it after all this time. That's one of the reasons I don't post or visit here very much since I don't get how so many could be so uninformed and uneducated on this.

For example, I looked at the last 4 pages in this thread and noticed just a few very low value good category domains and didn't see anything about how excellent .org is in its best category and a few other top categores too.

With that said, I am thinking about throwing in the towel on domain forums having much educational value. Instead the forems appears to be little more than sales venues for dubious value or no value domains.

I agree. I really like .org for investment purposes.

Why are people just posting their .org names without discussion? It's seriously devaluing the worth of this thread.
How about when you post a name, give us the logic behind it, what you plan to do with the name and who you're going to target if you're selling it?

Also, as David says, a lot of them don't really fit the extension and look like weak registrations/purchases. He gives three of the best possible categories for .org domains (I'd personally add political/activism names to my top category list too).

While health, medicine etc might seem to be logical in association with .org, the extension actually does well with financial, technology and insurance related subjects as well.

In fact the only two end user sales I've had for .org have been for technology terms and the one I get the most lowball offers via email for is also a tech keyword.

The one that I myself want to develop is New Internet dot Org - would be perfect for the function I have in mind, even better than the .com for that matter... and it's not a health related keyword by a LONG shot.

What you get out of the forum is pretty much what you put in, intelligent viewpoints lead to intellectual discussions which allow your thought process to take in the opinions of others and process them to your benefit.

Yes there is a lot of crap being sold on the forum, but then most of the sales at such venues are between reg fee and $300.

High value sales do happen but they are few and far between and mostly occur outside the domain ecosystem per se.
