Current Aussie Typo Prohibited name List

But be aware these names can/do/will appear in any available check at registrars/resellers sites. It is the BUYERS that need to check and be certain any selected name is NOT on the prohibited list.

AuDA is HARSH on typos beware! They will delete your names with no warning AND give ZERO refund.

I have 2 NN.com.au - 78.com.au , 87.com.au and 2 LLL yin.com.au and lug.com.au.

Yes and the other thing they are HARSH about is residents of Stockport Drive,
Plano, TX 75025 US owning Australian Domains.
I have contacted auDA about your ownership and other Users also owning Australian names illegally.

I know several members of auDA that regularly check Forums & Auctions checking for NON compliant Owners of Australian Domains.

Plus general warning to all AUSSIE Domainers discussing buying names for resale.

In a series of reforms announced this week (feb 2008), the Australian Domain Name Administrator (auDA) has regulated against domain traders by outlawing the practice of registering a domain name for the sole purpose of reselling it.

Aussie names are still primarily for usage, not resale so all focus of discussion should be about parking, developing and then reselling based on the potential or realised value of the name.

the only 3 coms available. out of 1500+. and about 5 infos....
COLONIALFIRSTESTATE.COM
UNCLAIMEDSUPERFUNDS.COM
WANTAS.COM

how do they suppose to stop those sort of shenanigans.

Shucks, too bad I have an ABN. Your complaint probably got trashed the moment it saw it was a valid ABN. I am surprised a vigilante enforcer like you wouldn't bother to read your own auDA rules.

1. To be eligible for a domain name in the com.au 2LD, registrants must be:
a) an Australian registered company; or
b) trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory; or
c) an Australian partnership or sole trader; or
d) a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia;

Unfortunately, it seems like your domains don't follow this rule:

2. Domain names in the com.au 2LD must be:
a) an exact match, abbreviation or acronym of the registrantโ€™s name or trademark; or
b) otherwise closely and substantially connected to the registrant.

I don't see your "variety of names" being connected to the registrant. I have reported you to the auDA domain police. :yell: :yell: :yell: :yell:

Be aware, when you sell a com.au, all registrars are charging fees. Seems to vary from A$50 to A$300+!

It does include a further 2 years of registration though.

I just sold one domain for a case of beer so a $50 fee on top made quite a difference (although the buyer will cover it)

Good on you mate! Curious to know what name you sold and where you sold it (ie how you found the buyer). Understand if you don't want to reveal this in public, but you can always PM me with the info ;)
Cheers and have a nice long weekend (or maybe that's only here in Vic)

no I don't mind revealing....

name was namedrive.com.au. I've had it parked at Namedrive for about 18 mths when they finally spotted it...

Luckily I have about 1500 names parked there so they couldn't be too upset!

Sold another more conventional domain this week. Floranet dot com.au to a florist in Melbourne- for $400. He approached me via whois. Interesting domain as I think it was first registered in early 90's.

Have a great long weekend yourself - it's the Queens Birthday so of course it's in NSW too. Although interestingly NZ have it on a different weekend, neither of these dates are her real birthday and UK don't celebrate a public holiday for it at all!

Sam, I always check for valid ownership criteria for aussie name owners
I am glad you have a valid ABN
As to the close and substational rule
Parking and development of domains is my business
Therefore ownership of a diverse range of names is valid and legal under the auDA rules. I have a good relationship with the auDA.

Dear BFT,

No hard feelings. I was sarcastic with my reporting to the auDA police.

Nice domains. Don't suppose you'll disclose how much you paid:)

philski, that's a great sale! I have horsesaustralia.com.au (semi-developed check it out!) which actually get a fair bit of traffic.

MrSpartan, think there are about 1.1m .au regos. Fabulous reputedly doesn't have ANY .au domains although suspect that might change shortly.

I think .au market is going to be pretty big for the size of the population. Sales and trading activity might take some of the 'com til I die' crowd by surprise ;)

1.1m regs in a country with a population of 21m, pretty nice.

I assume .com.au is more mainstream for commercial companies? Also, anyone have a break up by tld?

I don't see myself investing in this but I can understand why locals are delighted with the new policy change :)

Good discussion guys. I own around 100 .au's, mostly generic 2 words and LN.com.au

a few are:

v9.com.au
Taxwealth.com.au
Propertysalesonline.com.au
pcassistant.com.au

I have them all parked at the moment.

If anyone is looking to purchase .au's just for parking I may have an option, PM me.
