name was namedrive.com.au. I've had it parked at Namedrive for about 18 mths when they finally spotted it...

Luckily I have about 1500 names parked there so they couldn't be too upset!

Sold another more conventional domain this week. Floranet dot com.au to a florist in Melbourne- for $400. He approached me via whois. Interesting domain as I think it was first registered in early 90's.

Have a great long weekend yourself - it's the Queens Birthday so of course it's in NSW too. Although interestingly NZ have it on a different weekend, neither of these dates are her real birthday and UK don't celebrate a public holiday for it at all!

selling with a TM issue could be borrowing trouble...
given they have contacted you and the media attention.

Their legal costs to follow this up is a tax deduction.

btw they will persue you for the name

The fact that an overseas entity can register a .au using an ARBN is certainly interesting. Do you know if many people currently do so?

I guess the premise is that if they are doing business in Australia, then they are entitled to such a number. And if the business they are in is 'domaining' or 'web publishing' then they are entitled to register domains.

The only danger the way I see it is that the .au space get's overrun with non Australian content. IMO one of the best things about auDA's regs is that they've managed to keep .au Australian.

But if overseas investors start regging or buying .AU names and keep the content related to Australia then I can't see there being anything wrong with that...

But I would rather see NON-Australian content then what I see so often.
NO CONTENT .

So many times lately .com.au's and also .net.au's that have been regged without even a park page. auDA requires valid USAGE, no domainsquatting is allowed. Listing on a sale site for re-sale such as your excellent Netfleet.com.au is NOT sufficient grounds for ownership.

Names not being used during automated searches will be investigated for possible deletion and re-release into the available pool.

Also I can no stress enough "NO Typos" allowed as well. No warnings are given by auDA before deletion.

About time a few of those thousands of great names NetFleet.com.au has listed got sold for their TRUE Value.
Too many excellent keyword Names listed for $xx -$xxx prices. When the matching .com & .net would sell for $xx,xxx Plus

Plus Guessitbot.com always displays Aussie names value @ $50 Usd & often says name is still available. Which is less the Registration fee & transfer Fee. So do not go on GuessaLot.com valuations.
(Josh[estibot] you do really need help with calculating more correct valuations for Aussie Names. Either myself or NetFleet would be very helpful in working out some guidelines)


Aussie Names can and Do get international Traffic.
Have excellent credibilty worldwide. (because of the auDA rules).

Anyone one thinking of BUYING aussie name, should remember to check auDA.org.au for the registration guidelines. BEFORE buying them.
The most important one for domainers are
1/ 6 months registration period before resale.
2/ Names cannot not be purchased purely for resale. (No squatting on names)
3/ No TYPO registrations ALLOWED.
Any typo names so found to be registered Will be deleted and NO REFUNDS.
4/ Any names sold must be transferred using the approved transfer process including payment of a large transfer fee. This fee is set by the registrar and can be $250 or more
5/ Any buying a resold name must also qualify under the auDA registrant rules.

I agree. And I'm in Australia.

I would go further and say .co before .com.au for the GLOBAL market. I use .com.au's if I'm marketing directly to Australians.

Any one an Expert with .com.au domains?

Hi all,

I have been into domains for around 6 years, mostly .com/.info/.net ect ect Ive sold over 100 over the years... today I saw something interesting online in regards to .com.au domains and it got me thinking why cant I buy a few? As to date I own ZERO .com.au's and I am from Australia.

I am a bit confused to the rules can you buy like 10 domains on the same ABN number or do you need different ABNs for different domains?

I notice companies like OMG | Online Marketing Group have like 100s of premium .com.au domains via 1 ABN, I also ready about how this company started lol..

I am looking at developing and SEOing these .com.au's..not just sitting on them...

To start I want to buy like 5, and test the water..

Any advice for me? Any one have some powerful insights into .com.au domains?

hi guys,

i have been trying to flip this domain aluminium/seating(.)com to an australian end user that owns the .com.au. but it has been to no avail.. i just sent mail to them and my email tracker shows that it hasnt been read. and its over two weeks now. what do guys think i should do...??

Most AU business owners do not see the value in owning the .COM and are happy to operate on the .COM.AU.

It's only later on that if they are going global they need the .com. For something like a local seat manufacturing business they do not need the .com, yet if it was a digital based idea they would jump on it
