I think I started the first BQB.com auction ever. I'm not sure but it looks like it's up and running.

New logo + slogan in the works.

Word from one of my developers is that the bulk listing software should be integrated into BQB by the end of this month :)

I am sure you will get a bunch of solid designs for that prize.
I just wish I was a logo designer. The extent of my logo design skills is making a 2 minute design in AAA Logo :)

I've started a logo contest on eLogoContest.com -- anyone is welcome to join in if they'd like. The prize is $500 USD. Link: http://www.elogocontest.com/contest_detail.php?contestid=109

Thanks Brad :)

eLogoContest is the first service I'm aware of that runs this way exclusively for logos. It's run by a NPer so I have someone I can harass if it doesn't work out well

Kidding aside, I've seen some pretty good logos designed even in the $100 contests there, so I'm looking forward to see what they can come up with!

Reece, can you move the 'Sponsors' module on the right hand side beneath the 'Members Area' module... Its forcing the login screen down below the fold as well as all of the members area links when you are logged in... very annoying considering the space is being taken up with nothing :)

Rich B-)

Agree it is a bit annoying. Maybe another approach is to reduce the number of 'Sponsor' boxes to one for now so that the login box will move back up above the fold.

Someone also mentioned too many 'garbage' on the homepage, probably that refers to the long 'Ending Soon' list. May want to reduce it to say 20 items.
Users can always see the full list by clicking 'view all'.

A feature to consider is to add a section like the 'Afternic Bazaar', where prices are set high and then drop every day (Dutch auction). This keeps people coming back to look for bargains.
Not sure how difficult this is to implement, but seems the phpprobid software supports Dutch auction.

Thanks for the great site Reece!

That is actually a really good idea. I really like the reverse type auctions.
The price goes lower and lower as time goes by - until it is either sold, or a stop price is met.

Yes, it sure is :)

I've actually been looking into this for awhile but honestly have no clue how to go about implementing it. Will check with my developers and see what can be done now that it's apparent I'm not the only one who thinks it'd be a neat feature to have :)

Brad

Would anyone else like to see the Ending Soon list shortened? It doesn't bother me either way and is a 2 minute fix, so please let me know :)

Right now all the places with Dutch style auctions have terrible selection.
If you could get that going it would be really good for business I think.

I've always been a fan of reverse auctions myself and would love to get this integrated if at all possible :)

I like them because I can set a price I am willing to pay initially. Then just wait.
It really takes out the hassle of negotiating.

The only downside I could see is the quality of domains might drop.
I wouldn't want to see domains such as I-Like-Food.mobi starting at $10K. That would really lower the quality of the site if it was flooded with terrible overpriced domains.

Maybe we could make the reverse auctions feature only for short domains --LLLL.coms, L-L-L.coms, LLLL.nets, etc should sell pretty well in reverse auctions, whereas it's really not the place for multi-word combinations imho.

If it was my site I would consider the following.

-Short Domains
-Dictionary Words
-Good Keyword domains (High Word Tracker)
-Major 3 extensions only.

Maybe you could have them submitted for approval or something. It is a great idea, but you have have to make sure the quality remains the same.

Yes starting out with short domain first, and that's what bqb.com has a lot anyway. Good luck with the technical side of thing to get this set up and I'd love to see it too. :xf.love:

I think you're 100% right Brad about being strict on what's allowed. It looks like my developer is up for the challenge, so we'll hopefully see this on BQB within a couple weeks :)

Will start it out as Pre-approved short domains, dictionary words, or good keyword domains with .com/.net only and see from there how that goes and consider expanding.
