So I've been watching a lot of whats been selling incrementally learning more and more about Chinese numerology and how the number 8 is the "luckiest".

8.com of course is taken but then I started drinking and ran an experiment to see how many times I have to enter 8 to get an available domain. The answer was surprising. All of them were taken except one so I bought it... the number 8 62 times. All the domains more 8s are taken as well. All other numbers were taken so I had to buy it. IDK what anyone would do with it but theres gotta be a reason longer ones are taken as well. Maybe it'll bring me good luck times 62 by having it in my portfolio!

88888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.com

Any ideas on why the others would be taken?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
These are a waste of money. Check what the names are used for and who owns them? They are just domainers waiting for the big score, most of them are just parked or for sale and will never sell. If you have 888.com or 8888.com, then they have value but nobody is going to type in 88888888888888888888888888888888888.com

Yeah I mainly bought it as a joke but hell maybe someone will buy it. Looks like 888888888888888888.com sold for $627 USD Jan 24 2016 on DropCatch. Also they are ALL taken, theres value in that somewhere even if its small. Only 62 people max can have one.

RADIO (example)
"Visit 63 times 8 - the highest "8" domain of all time!"

HIGHWAY BILLBOARD (example)
"Visit 888... …888.top - the highest "8" domain of all time!"

People are not stupid, they will understood it - at least those who want to understand.

It's not the longest 888... ...888.com domain.
His domain has 62 "8"s while 63 "8"s (or characters in general) are possible.

The difference between 62 / 63 seems to be a small difference but in this case it's a big one, it's the decisive one.

Sorry I'm not calling anyone stupid.
I'm just trying to be a realist not an artist.

Then ppl will go to 63times8.com:xf.confused:
Only a few, most will understand it.
And even if they would first go there to find out that there is nothing, then they will get howww it was / is meant.

Of course I can followww your "concern", in the way you described it, it would indeed be a realisic scenario - but there is a simple solution (as I mentioned above).

My "...not stupid" - comment was meant in context to myyy presented solution, let me picture it in this way:
The solution for (entering the higher / highest floor/s of) a scyscraper is a lift - people are not stupid, they can handle a lift.
In other words, the will understand this long domain - radio / highway billboard - solution.

I'm sort of curious how many lines that will be on the Godaddy Closeouts listings.

Regarding the digit "8":

The fact that the digit "8" is not the highest digit (which is the digit "9"), is the reason why the domain
999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999.top
has more value than the domain
888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.top

There is no higher number possible in a domain name than
999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

(63 times = highest possible number of "9")

So unless someone counts how many "8" they put into search bar, they will end up at another site...
61 "8's" is a different site (parked/developed/blank page/ etc) than 62 "8's"
60 "8's" is a different site (parked/developed/blank page/ etc) than 62 "8's"
True but those who know their goal (domain / website) will find their way (typing the exact number of...).
These domains are made for people who knowww their goal.

Question
Can you point me in the direction of where these type names are being used?
Besides being discussed here on NP.
And can not be one of your names.
Thanks

I own the most 8s on the Internet

I have one more 8 than the OP's, total 63 8s.

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.com

How long have you had it? Have you gotten any offers on it?

You can't say / write that you own the "most" "8"s on the internet" (of course you can say / write it - but it's factually wrong).

Simply because you are not the only one who owns this number of "8"s (63 = maximum) in a domain name.

As you may knowww and as as I mentioned in the beginning of this thread already, I own the domain

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.top

which contains exact the same number of "8"s (63 = maximum) like your domain.

In other words, you own exact the same number of "8"s (63 = maximum) in your domain like I own in my domain name - which shows, that you obviously don't own the most "8"s on the internet.

This means, neither you nor I nor any other person can validly claim to own the most "8"s on the internet.

What you can validly claim, is that you own the most "8"s in combination with the TLD .com while I can validly claim that I own the most "8"s in combination with the TLD .top
So the difference here lays - once again - only in the TLD; regardless the TLD it's exact the same domain name (63 times / maximum "8").

Although it's anywayyy obvious - at the end it's a personal decision / viewww which "maximum "8" - domain" of all exisitng "maximum "8" - domains" is / can only be the highest = top "8"s domain of all time...

.com is my world and my Internet
I see. Very strange...

Originally you wrote "...on the internet" and not "...on my internet".
According to your (above quoted) reply, you actually should have written originally "...on my internet" to make others instantly clear that "your world / internet is .com only".

So only if you write "In my world and in my internet which consist of .com only, I own the most "8"s", then you are correct.

But at the end you are just denying the internet - realityyy with such a statement - because .com is only a part of the internet; factually there is no "my" internet, there is just "the" internet - with thousands of different TLDs and .com is only one of them - but it is not the highest one.

Ok - the highest possible "8" domain name = sub.sub.sub.domain.tld. is definitely this one:

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888.top.

No, your reply is (provably) wrong.

“8” means “发” in China
  • Therefore domain names associated with 8 cost more

So then what does 发路 mean?

0
•••
  • Therefore domain names associated with 8 cost more
And therefore domain names associated with (much) more 8 cost even (much) more (at least that's the case with my 888... ...888.top domain name).
