Update: I just spent 38 minutes on the phone with Moniker (Phillip.....highly competent) and many of my issues are now resolved. I will be issued an account credit for renewals processed on domains turned off, my names are showing correct expiration choice, etc.

i was supposed to get a refund for domains that were double charged but a week later, still nothing. i wish i could get someone on the phone that could actually do something. i've called in several times but nothing was ever resolved. i had one transfer successfully go through and i'm sure all the other domains that are actually listed as 'moniker online services' in whois will work but all the others give me bad auth codes that don't work.

While I was on the phone I received 2 refund emails. But I did not see the refund in my account. Phillip stated that for some reason the refund went to another one of my accounts (this is an odd thing that happened with the new system...multiple accounts) So he is having to ask his supervisor to move the refund to the right account. Which for me is my only moniker account that I know of.

I have 7 other domains acquired through snapnames over the years. Only 2 show moniker, the rest strange registrars. So Phillip reiterated that any name not showing Moniker is somewhere else. I have already put in a ticket at snapnames to determine location so I can track down these names (which appear in my moniker account, but should not)...if that makes any sense.

yeah i have a couple hundred of these domains that do not show moniker as the registrar. i am messing around to see what i can do with them in the moniker control panel. so far i can unlock them and even renew them but you can't get auth codes, they give invalid ones that don't work. its very strange that i can unlock and renew a domain within moniker that isn't even really with moniker (all those random registrars reference [email protected]). i contacted snapnames several times and they seem to know very little. they don't have any timeframe on when these domains will be manageable on their side which is ridiculous.

EDIT: just received a refund for those names double charged...at least something is happening.

I will transfer all of my 1500+ domains at moniker out by next week if the system isn't working properly by then. Great job ruining an almost indestructable reputation of solidness in one miserable update.

I have a domain due for renewal. I couldn't remember the registrar. I thought it was moniker but the whois is showing udomainname as the registrar which threw me. Thankfully a np member dmugford advised it was moniker. I received no notification the domain was due for renewal. In fact i haven't received anything from moniker over the years. Anyway i can't get into moniker so have sent a ticket to support so i can get access to renew the domain.Hopefully they are prompt and efficient with their reply.

I am still actually waiting for the refund to hit the "right" account. Regarding udomainname. I have 2 domains that show that registrar. And they are old snapnames acquisitions. From what moniker told me, these are actually being managed somewhere else. And if I mouse over udomainname in my snapnames purchase history, it shows networks solutions. url?? So I think they should be at network solutions, but they are not as of yet.

In the very recent email "A Message From Moniker's CEO"

You can pretty much LOL every time a merchant claims that the auto-renewal was 'unintended' or that the charges to your payment method were 'erroneous'. Predatory auto-renewal is the core business model of all sorts of eCommerce operations, basically everything you see advertised on TV as "we will ship you a sample FREE!" lives by 'autobill'.

There is no such thing as an 'accidental auto-renewal' on a large scale basis emanating from an eCommerce platform. Auto-renewals are hotly discussed in merchant processing circles and can be incredibly lucrative for a product that has a ton of consumer inertia like a domain name. They actually teach about electronic billing strategies in major B schools these days.

In short, LOL that any of this was 'by accident'.

I have a dedicated bank account for all my eCommerce that has a low balance, fraud protection and I cancel the debit card itself every 3 months. Sound paranoid? Perhaps, but then again, I've never been 'autobilled' for anything in my life and my paranoia is driven by knowledge, having seen behind the curtain in that ugly, ugly world.

my optimism from yesterday is gone. I never received the credit to my correct account. was sent to some account that I am unaware of. I called again this morning, spend 20 minutes on hold only to finally get a recording to leave a message.

Well. i've been waiting 5 days to gey my password reset. They answered the first ticket i submitted and then silence to my concerns that i am going to lose the domain i am trying to renew. Wonder if i can take legal action against the buggers if i lose the domain. Totally unprofessional and zero customer support.

I am still waiting for a reply. Sent another 2 emails to support, one yesterday, one today. Still no reply. I am sure the domain is going to be deleted due to not being able to renew it. What then? Do i have any legal rights?

If you would like, I could try to advocate for you, or anyone who is missing domain names.

After 3 domains went missing, my portfolio is now in tact, and I know a couple insider email addresses . . .

Records are useful. Do you have any old Quick Reports in .csv extension which open in Excel? Remember the old dashboard, where you could send yourself a report of your list of domain names with a click of a link?

Make screenshots of your current domain list in your dashboard. Paint is your friend! Press shift/Print Screen and paste into Paint or another image editing software, or Word. But Word shrinks the image.

If I were missing domain names, I would email the list to all the brokerage auction houses:

    HuntingMoon
    HugeDomains
    Sedo
    Afternic
    Godaddy
    DomainNameSales
    Nokta
    Cax

    who else?

I would write, these domains were lost in Moniker migration, and are not for sale.

There was an adsense I clicked, which led to lieffcabraser.com . Lieff Cabraser is accepting complaints about Godaddy charging for goods and services not ordered. Sounds familiar! I filled out an information form with Lieff Cabraser about the Moniker migration. I still have an unauthorized charge which has not been credited. We are much more powerful than some realize! If Lieff Cabraser contacts me next week, I will update, here.

Why are you registering new domains at Moniker. You should go somewhere else for your new registrations. Moniker definitely going downhill. To the point I suspect they won't survive. Everyone is transferring their domains away from Moniker, if they can. Besides a request to pay by wire transfer for 1 new registration, says all you need to know about the new Moniker.

Good suggestion, i think i will try to move out my domains although i just knew from google that the only way to use paypal is by prepaid fund which is $25 minimum.
    I think i will use name.com now.
Or what is your suggestion? I don't like to use GD as my main choice although i have some domains too there.

Try namesilo. Lowest no-gimmick, no-coupon prices with things like whois privacy absolutely free with each registration.

Interface is simple and powerful and they have a lot of payment options.

What if you prefer public whois? Private whois is a scheme to confuse the ownership of the domain. Also, some Registrars charge to forward emails in private whois. That is where they make their $$. What if you get an offer for a domains? You have to pay to view the email.

Scarier still if the Registrar blocks the offer, and blocks your renewal in order to sell your domain itself. Lots of confusion with private whois. I am against private whois. Private whois is LESS secure, not MORE secure.

May we say, Key Systems, the German company which bought Moniker, is going downhill? It would be a crime for Moniker to be cited, and Key Systems get off scott-free.

All of which doesn't apply to namesilo. whois privacy is optional. They also offer free email forwarding. They make their money with registrations, not with addons.

You should really look into what you're talking about before making claims.

You don't know the histories of both Moniker and Snapnames? What's "extremely disturbing" to me is the fact that you'd spend your money at either entity in the first place, considering their respective histories. What do you expect here?

As far as your experience with Snapnames is concerned, your story brings thoughts to me of you trying to cash a check for $25 from Bernie Madoff, after he was convicted of stealing millions of dollars from investors, and finding out the check he wrote you for $25 came back from the bank NSF. Then you cry about the $25 bounced check here or in an investor forum and wonder why other participants of the forum merely roll their eyes after reading your story. Wake up.

As far as Moniker is concerned, maybe if you bitch and moan hard enough here some pathetic sellout with username "jrzeygirl" (or something similar) will pop up to perform damage control, while still floating the balloon that Moniker is a wonderful, responsive registrar, hoping you'll be stupid enough to believe it. What? "Jrzeygirl" is no longer at Moniker? What you say? She's now down on Moniker after running interference for them? What you say? She's now trying to get your business over to Enom?

It seems to me there are plenty of bottom-feeders who try to sell us down the river for a few shekels. Like I said, "wake up."

Name, Dynadot, NameSilo, are all excellent registrars, imho.

Maybe you're right. I wish it were true. Trustworthy Registrars are limited. They all seem to harvest better dot coms in behalf of Verisign! Call me old-fashioned, but I would not agree to these terms:
Not to mention, you have to post bond in the event of litigation.
Look out! Lots of Registrars stipulating bond! Further, be prepared to respond within three [3] days to inquiry from Registrar, if you use privacy:
Even one reviewer of NameSilo here at Namepros stated
    - https://www.namepros.com/threads/how-good-is-namesilo.719535/page-2#post-4338624

I hope NameSilo is everything you need and works out well for you.

Which Registrars don't have language like this in their ToS. Even the largest Registrar on the Planet, GoDaddy, has worse than this. You can cherry pick onerous clauses in every Registrars ToS.

*sigh* It's the truth. I never was a customer of Godaddy, because I couldn't stand its terms. Moniker terms were more balanced. That may have changed.

Another method to determine respect of the Registrant can be the new DomainTools whois output.

Do you notice, if you enter a godaddy or enom domain, or now Moniker (it used to not list abuse email address), it puts the [email protected] email address at the top. Not so for dot org. Not so for dot us, which only puts the Registrant contact info.

But I noticed, with LouiseMarketing.com which I just transferred to BlackNight, MY contact email appears first, then the [email protected] email. It's small, but I appreciate that little respect.
