The .mobi directory

:hi:

I have built a .mobi directory at dir.mobi and would like to hear some suggestions/improvement about the site. I have seen some really good comments in this forum and I know there some experts around. I would really appreciate any feedback.

I built this site with mobile user in mind. In place of using the dmoz.org directory structure with lots of categories and sub-categories, I limited those to maximum 10 and which are relevant to mobile users. Although I still have about 1000 categories to choose from. The main categories are Work, Learn, Play, Shop, Home, Money & World. I tried to make the directory very simple with just logo as image for faster download.

If anyone knows of good .mobi working sites ( not just domains), then please let me know or add URL at dir.mobi. I want to add good .mobi websites which will benefit mobile users. The listing is also free (till I change my mind!!!).

Cool directory.
I added a link to you on my wireless Web blog on the links page.

Thanks you very much Tee for adding dir.mobi link on your website. I would really appreciate if everyone who has submitted their website to dir.mobi to linkback. It will help me a lot.

If anyone is interested, you can put dir.mobi search , dir.mobi logo or dir.mobi link on your website, go to Link page on dir.mobi. Although we do not have a lot of websites yet in dir.mobi, for the search to be usefully, but I believe in couple of months it would be very useful tool to put on your website.

Newton,
You got some great .mobi domain names there! Are you planning to devleope all those?

BTW, Thanks for adding the link on you homepage. I have now added some more graphic buttons for link back on the Link page.

Thanks vcool, they will all be developed in the near future. The standard pages will most likely be flash sites, once there is more of an idea of traffic and devices used to view the pages.

I adore your dir.mobi site and hope to see more sites up there, ideally with users being able to draw upon the links there to know what mobile sites are available, so they in turn can create their very own mobile sites from the huge list of mobile sites there.

dotMobi Directory @ Mobinomy

Hi Vcool

Nice idea...will check out dir.mobi, nice name too!

I co-ordinate the site Mobinomy.com, a site for the mobile economy - http://www.mobinomy.com . We have started a dotMobi directory at Mobinomy . This is not a dotmobi site but a normal dotcom site. We felt that there will be a need for people to identify dotmobi web sites on their normal web browsers before starting to use them on their mobiles, hence the directory...I welcome you all to check out the directory @ Mobinomy.com and let me know your thoughts - if you have any sites to be submitted, I request you to submite them at the directory.

Vcool, please feel free to choose the links from the directory to be included in yours. I wish you all the best!

Have a nice day.

I already visited your site couple of days back and was very happy to see dir.mobi listed there. I was wondering since then about who owns the site, beacuse I did not see anyone mentioning about your site at NP.

Btw, Your site is very cool and has lot of resources for .mobi which can be very usefully . Thanks for suggesting to add links from your directory into dir.mobi. I will do that and will also provide link to your site for developers.

Thanks again and Best of Luck.
