But I consider their guide a bit old since they are not taking in consideration the emergenging countries that appreciate other letters and as we have run a poll here several times lately, the majority of people consider the letters U
and W to be Premium letters.

So here's a question. I have a client that owns a "premium" LLL.com. He acquired it maybe 7/8 years ago for $800. It's actually an acronym for one of his sub-companies and he uses it for that purpose. Another, larger company wants to buy it off of him, since it's an acronym for their company name. Right now the offer stands at $50K.

There's no way that it's worth the trouble of switching e-mails, redirecting the site visitors, etc. for $50K. But he was wondering what's a "fair price" to ask for the domain.

Any thoughts?

It could be from $12k to $100k+ anything. If it's not worth the trouble, then leave it. Without knowing who is the interested party and what is the name exactly, it's hard to comment. Very few companies would pay $100k+ for a domain name.

Agreed, it's very difficult to comment on a speculative issue. I agree with tetrapak, that if it's not worth it, then just leave it. When it comes to an end-user (even though there already is one is this case), I don't think there is such a thing as a fair price. I've seen prices that have blown my mind all because a company wants the domain really bad.

reported on namebio as a sale by Moniker. strange because i though i saw it on auction on SnapNames.

also, the name was apparently sold on Sedo about one month before being listed on eBay.
