I guess I was a tiny bit late at discovering knol, but to me it seems like a great idea from google. Anyway I registered a few knol related domain names and as I was doing that I discovered that a lot of good keywords were already taken!

Anyway, looks like theres quite a few people here who have registered some "knol" names, so I'm hoping some of you would like to showcase them. Or at least say how many you registered.

knol.ws - thats pretty good. nice catch wibro! I got a load of .info ones as well - it was either that or .net's since most the .com versions were taken. I opted for .info since they were cheaper and seemed very appropriate to the keywords.

Whats the situation with TM issues? I thought the TM was being applied to "googleknol" and not "knol" on its own. Thats what I read somewhere, but not 100% sure. I thought it'd be something like "blog" or "wiki" but maybe I'm wrong.

Btw. Wibro, where did you get that filing info from? Does that mean google have applied for TM on "knol" ?

Pulled it up on a trademark search--- Its hard to say with Knol Domains ---They will not go after knol.com.I can see them going after Knolpedia or knolblog and so on knoluser

Google is trademarking the 4 letters KNOL. Wibro found it here:

They don't say anything about "Knol with Google". Since knol is not what you would call a common, or generic term, I think they will own it. Of course, I don't think they can do anything to the owners of Knol.com, other than try to buy them out. I ain't no lawyer, just my honest opinion. If you know someone (Google) has lots of money, lawyers, and power, why would you want to mess registering Knol names, when they just trademarked it 5 days ago?

Well, if is was KnolCarSales.com, or KnolNursery.com , you would be ok. I'm not sure, but can't they come after you anyway, if it is directly related to their Google Knol project? That's why you file a trademark. Maybe by not filing one, you lose out. Now, if you had already filed one for Knol Books, you might be ok. I'm sure we have experts here who can answer that. Anybody out there? There is only 1 trademark for the 4 letters KNOL, by Google.

I'm no lawyer but I don't think the issue will be when you bought it but whether the site infringes on google's propietary interest.

I wonder if it is possible to operate a site that capitalizes on the popularity of the knol project but doesn't infringe on Google's interests. For instance, does KNOLstuff.com (a social forum based on a common interest in KNOL) help or hurt google's interests? What about squidKNOL.com?

I think I'll get my domain credits at dynadot if TMs will be an issue. Still got 100+ hours to decide.

Anyone with legal know-how, please give us some info/advice.

If I kept a few of my reg'd names and parked them, is that allowed? I ask because I see tons of "myspace" related names parked or even developed and I know there was a big issue with TM in regards to that. So how does this work? What can and can't be done with TM'd names without p!ssing google or TM owners off?
