Alaska's Senator Stevens is making the news today...he explained how the Internet was made up of a bunch of tubes....

Just do a search on the senator and the internet...the blog world is going crazy with it.

It's truly a laugh out loud situation....even the local newscasters couldn't report it with straight faces.

While I think his views are a little skewed, technically speaking, he's right. I think he was talking more about the mechanics of the Internet and the effects of heavy usage which can cause backlog and shutdown sites entirely... Wires are tubes, and they have a certain capacity, and if that capacity is reached, then it will backlog...

To be honest, with how little politicians know about the most common day things in general, I'm quite impressed he knows this much...

Especially, some of our current politicians who's oratory skills and staresmanship skills have risen to such a high level that programs, such as. the David Letterman Show have enough material to devote a daily segment to showcasing them.

"I....uh...(pregnant pause)yes the internet *is* like a globe which is something like a circle but, with many circles- with many of them, stuck all together like this. You see? Like this. (turns hands back and forth to mime a globe) You know, uhh... better, still. The internet is like a big golf ball.! Yes, that's right, like one off those little balls that are attached together with strings inside, all joined together like little nets. Uh... Now where was I? Oh, yeah! The world."
