Do you know what the first 100 names ever registered as .com were?

I will let you know soon.

But in the meantime - How many of those first 100 names are actually registered, today, in our beloved .TV extension?

I'll give you a couple of hours of guessing.

So many really intelligent and quick people. It's scarey.

But doesn't this say two things...

1. THINGS CHANGE- and quick

2. .TV is still in its infancy

I love this place, but who will snap up the non-TM'd ones first?

Err no it wasn't
Smalltalk (an early Object Oriented Lang.) development was done in those days by company called ParcPlace System now part of Cincom

I don't see how it says either really, most of those names are brand names and I'm guessing none of those names were registered with speculation/resale in mind.

Snoop

Are you blind man? Of course it exemplifies the fact that times change.

A significant proportion of those names are no longer relevant in the modern world, trademarked or not. And this is in just two decades.

Or are you still back there, having a blast? Still getting your kit from Tandy?

Over 20 years it is pretty obvious some companies will change names/go out of business-that is a long time. How does the list show that .tv is in its infancy?

I buy a bit of stuff from Tandy, yes. They have 120 stores here.

To complement the list with a bit more data:

"In April 1985 cmu.edu, purdue.edu, rice.edu and ucla.edu were the first registered domain names.

The first .gov was css.gov and was registered in June 1985.

The first .org was mitre.org and was registered in July 1985.

Now for the first .com which was registered on March 15 1985 and it was symbolics.com which still happens to be up and running, although not much to look at."

My God, do you really buy stuff from Tandy?

Wow, where's your nearest?

On the corner of 1999 Avenue and 20th Century Street in Reminisce City?

Are you suggesting that .TV is now NOT in its infancy? Did Fight.TV swing it or was something more illicit?

The extension is 12 years old, it is a long way from being in its infancy.

Video sites like youtube el al. came out on 2005-2006, and they are on the rise.
I think some media companies started to adopt .TV after 2005.
It's about how companies, developers and net users see .TV now and will see in the future.
