Its about time to change rules about the "Domain Wanted" threads.
I mean who didnt post his names as requested in this thread
and didnt have any answer.
I think that the domains that really sold in this thread are few.
I quess we must find a tool that force those whos asking for domains wanted to put results.
This way no one will waste their time to post endless domains.

And imho there must be a budget stated, otherwise it is a waste of time.

agreed. Something has to be done.

I agree, I have replied to many posts in this thread and have only received one pm in response! If people are expecting others to pm them with their domains then they should either respond to the pm or post that they have found what they are looking for! I have got to the point where I don't even bother looking at this thread any more.

not to point fingers, but on the other end when someone posts a want ad for a specific type of domain, they get bombarded with posts and likely tons of PM's with names that are clearly not what they were looking for.

imo, there needs to be a stop to people trying to shove their unwanted domains on these people and clearly read what they are looking for before they waste everyones time

but i do agree that the whole system of 'domains wanted' needs to be remedied.

maybe the mods need to look at it more closely and warn members or remove posts that don't follow the guidelines. there also should be more stringent rules for posting domains wanted - i.e. more necessary info to post.

Good post WOW,

I'll have to agree with Giddyup, Most of the wanted threads are so filled up with what I consider spam that the OP's probably get feed up and move on.

I'd like to see a penalty assesed for clear violations of OP's criteria. Or charge 50 NP$ for every response to a wanted thread with the NP$ being refunded if a deal is reached.

Or maybe have the OP contact a Mod with their wanted info and have reply's be made directly to the Mod. I think either one of these would keep the section more professional.

I love NP over DNF and DS, but IMO we need to keep some of the sections more professional.

I guess NP could always just start charging for new memberships :bingo:

You have my vote.

I asked for a domain, found it, PM'ed the owner, posted it in the thread and even closed the thread to stop the endless replies. But then people started sending me PM's with offers :td:

I stopped using it until something changes.

i think having a fees of 50np$ is a bad idea because many times there are people who have tight budget + low budget. suppose i am looking to buy 1 CCC.info domain then who would want to pay a fee of 50np$ just to help me out?

I say leave it as is. Otherwise, we'll end up like that other forum with multiple wanted forums with strict rules like budgets clogging up the the clean look of namepros. Just my opinion.

I have learned to deal with it. If I post a name someone may want and they pm me thats great, if no pm then its obvious they didnt want it.

Moved to NP Info and Suggestions.

My own .02 - "Narc" and let us know if the "usual suspects" are sending spam offers (Again, u3y is not "3 letters") and we can deal. No need to revamp the whole system, :imho:

Ditto, it's frustrating to say the least.

A complete revamp isn't needed but stricter rules would be nice so people stop spamming domains where they aren't wanted.

Well I can see it from both angles, having just run one on another forum for a period.

I was quite honest in the thread title stating my conditions were extremely strict, that I wanted 3 names with very specific criteria and I would likely reject most names that were submitted, I purchased two in the end out of probably a good 500-600 submitted my way. The first few weeks I replied to every PM and every post in the thread. However the workload, especially if people were submitting names that didn't match the, albeit strict, criteria left me in the end just making general responses to save everyones time.

I did take the time to keep up with reading the PM's and analyse any domain fitting the criteria submitted my way, in fact I am monitoring a good dozen from the thread and may well make offers in time.

If I was forced to make my purchases public I can tell you now one would never of happened through the thread and if I were to announce the 12 I was monitoring, what would stop someone else jumping in with an offer? I would have to seriously consider running a thread on a forum where that was a requirement.

Instead perhaps, if it had to be done, have the person who sold the name contact the forum admin confirming a sale has been made but not the exact specifics of it to the general public.

I can see the other side too, nothing worse than dealing with a buyer who isn't serious, doesn't pay or keeps submitting the same offer over and over again.

From the OP's side as well. There used to be and probably still is people that are post in the wanted section simply to gather info on domains/whois/emails etc..
