Don't think too much into some of those domains. I used to run a Mercedes-Benz dealership and I happen to know some of the domains on the list were simply UDRP and legal transfers. So before a newbie looks at the list and decides to register similar names please keep in mind that a good amount of the names were actually not registered by Daimler.

That said, the most interesting story is the daimler.com domain. The owner of that domain stuck to his guns and kept it even through the transition to Daimler-Chrysler. The company was Daimler-Benz, then Daimler-Chrysler and then simply Daimler.

The owner of Daimler.com had all the patience in the world and it paid off in the end.
