Hi Everyone,

Seems this site continues to thrive, been a while since I last posted, no point really as I have just kept two domain names not for personal or business use. I see the same old questions and diverse opinions on domains continues

Well, it is March and that time of year to renew my two domains - dutifully now done. :)

But this year there is now a difference, having suffered a heart attack last November then a TIA just over a week ago it seems that it will be time to actually do something serious about these domains. LOL

So today started planning out the program of work, the first www.JesusChri.st should hit the computer screens within the next week, then I will be working on www.Fig.ht. Neither of these will be developed as websites but rather as tantalising (hopefully) sales sites.

When the sites become live will come back here and announce it so that members can have their say. Undoubtedly it will be just as robust as it used to be all those years ago when I first joined.

Well JesusChri.st is now live - it is an extremely basic site as we plan to use just to show that such a domain and website can exist. :)

Now the really boring bit, sending emails, letters, and advertising it.

Just a quick update so that members can follow along the train of events of the advertising and marketing of www.JesusChri.st.

- Finishing the design of a 20 page information booklet that will be sent out to prospective buyers. (This is one of the major costs involved in the initial stage of marketing, ignoring design time involved the professional printing will work out at about GBยฃ1 each (circa. US$1.30), on top of which is of course postage when they are sent out, will most probably send out in the initial wave about 500.)

- Research into the prospective end-user buyers continues, this includes Churches, Ministries, Televangelists, Christian TV stations, etc.. Of course this includes everything in the news about them - and there is definitely 'news' on them.

Some indications as to the make-up and corporate psychology of the prospective buyers is the desire by the Televangelists in particular to own private jets and requesting funding for them from their congregations ($54 million by Jesse Duplantis, he obviously wanted a cheap one compared to Creflo Dollar who asked his congregation members to donate for a $65 million jet). Then of course we have the Church of LDS who have invested $2 billion in a shopping mall in Salt Lake City.

(I am not saying there is anything wrong with any of the above but just pointing out that we are not talking small or medium businesses here.)

Also of interest is that the Church of LDS is rebranding after a revelation that the church should be named after Jesus Christ. In a press release the Church announced:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the name of the Church Latter-day Saints believe came by revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (see Doctrine and Covenants 115:4). โ€œJesus Christ directed us to call the Church by His name because it is His Church, filled with His power,โ€ President Russell M. Nelson. Mormon.org will also eventually redirect to the longer domain.

Anyway whilst this goes on still accumulating more information on Christian sites, Christian conferences and conventions, information about existing Christian websites and owners, and as always thinking all the time if selling www.JesusChri.st is the best option available to us.

So, for all those who think domaining is just registering a domain and then selling it to the highest bidder from a hoard of eager buyers, well, hopefully you can start to realise that domaining is just like 99.9%of other businesses - it takes work.

Thanks to the mods for shifting this over to the 'External Domain and Website Sales' forum - I fully understand why that was done though I expect no one on NamePros to actually be a potential buyer. :)

Well the brochure is at the printers now, hopefully by next Monday we will have the physical brochures in our hands and be posting them off to the initial batch of prospective purchasers.

One thing we are aiming at with the brochures is to make this different from a phone call or email marketing campaign. Having an envelope that needs to be physically opened on the desk takes longer than opening an email and binning it and then marking the sender sown as spam.

But there is still the problem of the recipient actually taking the time to even glance through the brochure rather than just tossing it quickly into the waste bin. After much thought we decided that the front cover of the brochure will simply contain a version of the main image of the website taking up about 45% of the top of the cover.

We have gone with this as it is unlikely that most Christians will just discard this without looking inside, and when that action is done they have effectively walked through the door of the shop and are psychologically looking at the product and are a potential customer.

Of course this could all come to nothing producing no results at all - but domaining is like that, always has been and always will. :)
