I have a good domain name in mind that can be used by an engineering compnay. I googled for such names and I found that companies use xxxTeK, xxxTec or sometimes xxxTech; which one of these would be more preferable by end-users? or should I just register all three? :td:

Thanks All

The answer is usually "tech". This is especially true if the it is for a business that will be doing voice/radio advertising. But if it's something like a personal blog or something like that, other spellings can be acceptable. However, "tech" is king, IMHO, since it is the proper spelling.

All other spellings can work, as shown above, but it requires more and effective marketing and good brand awareness.

In general I prefer, as many others above, tech that feels more formal and correct. In fact if going for a blue chip type company might even consider Technology.

However, there are situations where I might choose one of the others. To me tek and tec both feel more 'trendy' so if looking for that feel, they might work.

If you do a Google search results indicator, tech is about 10x popularity of other two which are about equal.

One possible consideration is that with tech or technology you could also register your exact company name with a new domain extension, covering both bases.

@offthehandle beat me to it but beware for trademark issues using Tek.

There are quite a few live trademarks.

As for what I prefer. Tech. Tek second and Tec if you can come up with a really good brandable. Again, watch out for trademark infringement!

what about when the second word starts with the letter H, does that change things?
