I have a good domain name in mind that can be used by an engineering compnay. I googled for such names and I found that companies use xxxTeK, xxxTec or sometimes xxxTech; which one of these would be more preferable by end-users? or should I just register all three? :td:

Thanks All

end-users , in general , prefer the correct form ... rather than short versions , letter replacements , newformisms , l33t , etc ... of course , though , it depends on the product/service and the marketing strategy ...

having said that , tech would probably be more appropriate and quality conveying ... tek could be used in certain circumstances (eg. younger audience) and tec again in certain circumstances like a brandable made-up name , eg. newtec (symmetrical , 3+3) ...

I am not trying to make the things worse , but you might also want to consider technology and T3CH (l33t) ... eg. I got T3CHIE.com which is pretty good for internet techies ...

gotta go with everyone else on this one lol..Certainly Tech would be the way to go in my opinion. It's most professional and what 95% of people will type rather than tec or tek

I think your target market would control this the most, but for the widest audience, you want "tech" with "tek" a distant second choice. Tek isn't exactly unprofessional, but tech would be the most professional IMHO.

I agree with everyone that Tech is the most professional, correct term.

Second would be Tek, which I think works well for made up words.

Tec I don't think works AT ALL.. too many people would pronounce it as "tes" .

For "Technology" in Domain Name and Brand imo

1) xxxtec.ext
2) xxxtech.ext, xxxtechnology.ext

its one of the only words that I'll consider using a misspelling, just because the word is so popular. Tech is ideal, Tec isnt too bad, and tek is pretty blah to me.

I would check that good domain and make sure the tech version isnโ€™t trademarked or in use before going for the other two.

Tek.com is owned by Tektronix, an electronic test equipment manufacturer for decades and is a well known brand, and the guy who defended his decision and argued with me on that was on this thread below might have potential issues.

TekApp.com anybody buying this one or creating others beware, don't take a chance being a cybersquatter jerk so please refrain, Use Tech instead.
