Taking a risk with $2 a click on Google

With a daily $$ budget.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

It really depends what niche but I never risk expensive PPC keywords like that because if 50% don't convert that's a helluva loss.

well hopefully your landing pages are all optimized and you're selling a high return product/service. i'd be curious as to what results/differences you see.

I'll take the above comment a step further and say I hope your keywords/ad text and landing pages are tightly grouped and well enough matched to help you establish a decent quality score or you could easily find yourself paying more than $2/click!

If your daily budget is a mere $xx range you probably won't receive many impressions at all.

Lower your per click rate or increase your budget.

I would also be sure to have a good tracking and split testing software installed on your landing pages.

I find that my conversion rate of clicks and impression for google is less than 1%.
however with your unlimited budget I believe you will have a lot of conversion and clicks.

I have like over 100 clicks a week with a very low budget.
I think yours should be at least 1,000 clicks a week with that budget.

A portion of my clicks 10% are from parking pages. Like sedo pages which has no content whatsover. Maybe because my pay for click is low. I hope google doesn't put your $2 per click on parking pages. I have found that even though they click...parking pages are not what you are looking for to get traffic from.

How much impressions are you getting per day?
I have like 50,000+ impressions with a very low budget per day.

Make sure you only do traffic off of Google's Pages no parked pages, no mom and pop shop sites..

yeah, a waste of money - google delivered 100% clicks with not one single email from users, or any requests for service!

I have a feeling I got ripped off by google click bots!

i closed my campaign...

i get more results from craigslist free service!

Google is the most reliable PPC service out there. Far from perfect, but better than the rest ---- but only if you know how to use them.

They are very unfriendly to new adwords customers, and can raise your per click cost at whim to ridiculous heights. Some people do very well with them, but you really have to study what you are doing and go in prepared. Funny that a customer has to do all the studying and preparing, but that's Google.
They have been know to walk all over even people who spend millions in Adwords.

There are others, like Miva, that I have had better luck with (though not in selling domains).

Buy Perry Marshall's adwords book at least, and read it through. I suspect there's money to be made that way for domainers, but not unless you're really serious about finding it.

I guess it really down to how you sell best. I find that for hard products we get loads more sales through google shopping & search than adwords, or any of the ppc shopping comparison sites.

Like you say, it does depend on how you use these sites.

I think you need to have a really good converting landing page for your product.

Trying out is not a big pain, you can try out for first week :)
Good Luck, play the game well.

but i think $2 is real risk.

Maybe if quantity > quality, Google will do a good job. Honestly, I've used Adwords for $X,XXX/pm quite a bit in the past and aside from a few arbitrage campaigns (back when Google allowed this), I really haven't found it to be worth the money (don't get me wrong, it's not bad but there usually are better alternatives). I'm not sure what your business is about, but I would recommend shopping around -- maybe some local Toronto websites or even newspapers. From my experience, you will do much better with an industry targeted website (in your case, obviously something also targeting the local Toronto area) than you will with Adwords, eg. advertising on Domaining.com or Namepros versus Adwords -- there really is no comparison in terms of the quality of visitors ("domainers") that are being sent to your site.

Sorry folks with the new format I did not read the whole thread. That Google ad break on the page messed me up. Poster has answered my question with his responses.
