Weak prices IMHO.... I'm pleased that they have at least sold... except company (which I thought would be a good dating domain?)

I'm sure that some around here will see these results as a sign of a slump in dotmobi domains...... It would be hard to argue otherwise as these aren't earth shattering results! I would guess that these prices are down by 60% to 75% on last year... so some bargains were won for sure!

I'm not overly concerned at this stage as I didn't think the market would mature for another year or more... of course it would be nice to win the lottery today rather than tomorrow but that's not a business plan, that's just wishful thinking.

Those are very low prices and not a good sign IMO. The hype has died down and people are seeing their mobi names expire when they though they would sell for big money. The value of .mobi overall has crashed pretty low because of this. LLL.mobi have even fallen to below the $100 mark when a year ago if you put them for $300 it would sell immediately.

Agree for the most part.

"Drugs" went higher than I thought it would as it highly searched but as a .mobi I just don't feel it fits. On the flip side I think "Sales" was a steal for 7000 LESS because it fits .mobi well.

Have a prosperous day!

i agree some were strong sales and some were not
besides dot mobi itself we must remember it is not a good for the market in all areas

in regards to dot mobi i think it is too early to say it is not a good sign
everybody knows dot mobi is here since 2006 and we dont know about its future yet, just time will tell but regarding sales external factors were more important as i said above

I was glad to see many of them go to people who I know will develop them properly.

May 23rd 2008..... Marks the bottom of the dotmobi martket IMHO... The mTLD promotion train has started moving now, smartphones are being sold at ever increasing rates & data services are finally being packaged into affordable bundles.. now is a good time to buy..... (& most definitely a bad time to sell!)

I think that domain prices in general are under pressure but I think if you track prices for other TLD's for the next 24months I would be happy to bet that dotmobi will provide the best % returns (if only because of the low base level that has been set recently).... but $1,000 in dotmobi at todays prices will (imho) trounce $1,000 in any other TLD

Fast forward 2010! ;)

not quite... we still have a huge wave of renewals to get through... the bottom will likely be somewhere between Winter '08 and Spring '09.

...now wheres my $50. i won that first bet. :ghost:

i have mixed thoughts on these ...

this is not a 'great' set of names, and hence the lower selling prices.
mortgage is not mortgages
films is not movies
airlines is not flights

i think they did ok considering the current economic market conditions

I think TRAFFIC is a great place to pick up bargains right now, and the worst possible venue to attract end users. Can you just imagine being at work with your speakers turned up for 4 hours and then your boss walks in or your client calls just when the name you want to bid on comes up? "Sorry, client, I can't help you." "No boss, get out of my office, can't you see there's a domain name auction going on?"

Bargains everywhere on this one, friends, and not an end user in sight.

Correct--

There may be a few to snipe when the wave of poor landrush regs drops. I could not believe some of those regs and some people may give up on the good when they ditch the bad!

Namewaiter:
mortgage.mobi is better than mortgages.mobi
The first one have a strongly higher search popularity.

...

I was the winner of mortgage.mobi
I also fighted for most of the .mobi auctionned here, including drugs.com.

Don't ask me why I bidded, I don't know.
I decided to no longer buy .mobi last year.
Maybe the fact to see generics at so low prices.
And probably for the fun, these live auctions are magical.

I conclude that without my bids these mobi will have sold at least 2 times lower confirming the bad state of the .mobi extension.

i can understand it. when its renewal time and you havnt done anything to prepare, its already too late.

that combined with loss of interest for an entire extension and just not wanting to take the time to sell or even liquidate SOME good ones... more importantly, its recognizing what a 'good one' is.

Well, it's just as well that I don't take my investment advice from a gamer whose idea of a 'deep & meaningful' quotation comes not from a historic figure like Churchill or from a great literary work on no!.... but taken from a computer game... I won't be losing any sleep ;)
