During my regular evening search I came across T.design - it is for sale at the mentioned price and the renewal fee is the same each year

Have been thinking about it and still can't work out if it is worth it....not in my budget range anyway!

I tried using estibot and got the following message - "We did not find any valid domains in your input or the domains you've provided have an unsupported extension. Click here for a list of supported extensions"

I tried T.com and still got the above message

Nambio sales below with design as the extension - not good!

Domain Price Date Venue
coins.design 150 USD 2016-08-21 Flippa
aquatecture.design 200 USD 2015-05-14 Flippa

BUT - it is a one letter domain name?

Look forward to hearing back from you!

P.S - if anyone buy's it let us know :xf.smile:

There is probably not going to be much of a market for this domain with a renewal fee of GBP 4805.55/pa.

Nope. Save your money.
You can get way better names with that kind of money.

The renewals alone should make you run like the flintstones...

Yes, the renewal is the killer. Considering the popularity of t-shirt designs, the one-time price may look good but the renewal will be overhead very soon.

Yabadadoo! It's a nice name. It might be worth it at standard renewal fees. But I wouldn't think it would be a quick flip at that price.

Hi, its not the letter thats the problem, its the extension. With 2 reported sales since 2015, it doesn't look for this extension.

Rather focus on strong extensions

Personally I love the word "Design" and it is used in so many industries, but the sales are what counts and what end-users think of the extension.

There are a few "TDesign" developed sites you can approach, check for trademarks as well though

tdesign.co.il
tdesign.vn
tdesign.de
tdesign.fr
tdesign.net
tdesign.nl
tdesign.pl
tdesign.com.tr
tdesign.com.ua
tdesign.com.hk
tdesign.co.kr
tdesign.tw
tdesign.com.br

Yeap, previous comments make a lot of sense. It's a great domain, but the renewal is killing it.
If it was a standard renewal, I personally think the asking price will be way much higher.

I agree with those who say no, but not because of the extension. Simply that renewal is too much even for a single letter I think. While single letters are obviously special, I don't see a compelling reason for that letter with that extension.

I don't buy the argument that lack of past sales in an extension necessarily means no value. For example, there were just 4 prior sales (largest $7500) in the .loans TLD before the $500,000 home.loans sale. Before the $42,000 blockchain.ventures sale there was a single sale, for less than $1000, in that extension. But you need great matching of two sides of dot and highly desired word for the big jump in value.

Re .design, while just a few sales in Namebio (they are missing a number including four.design for $4500 and EyeKiller.design for $1600, as well as some smaller ones), I see it as a positive that some big names including Kohler, NPR and FB are using the .design extension in a meaningful way.

So the price might be justified, but not in this case imho. I think the primary market for .design TLD is for small design companies with regional presence, and for them the renewal cost of this is too high.

ps BTW T-design is a mathematical term (see http://mathworld.wolfram.com/t-Design.html), but I don't think that adds to the possible resale value, at least much.

(disclosure: I hold 2 .design domain names)
