Swetha just announced the sale of Operator.xyz for $40,000. It looks like an Afternic broker helped close the deal. https://t.co/7Zybst5JBm sold for $40000 @Afternic Thanks to my rep Mason Goecke and the broker.#AI #ArtificialIntelligence #domains #domainnames #startup #startups #venturecapital #defi #technology #cryptocurrency #DAO #blockchain #crypto #bitcoin๐Ÿ“ท๐Ÿ“ท #ethereum #btc๐Ÿ“ท๐Ÿ“ทโ€ฆ pic.twitter.com/g0tjCOlTSf โ€” Swetha.xyz (@DomainNameGear) December 10, 2024

Well maybe @Equity or @DomainNameWire can interview someone at these Crypto companies and ask them what motivated them to spend big amounts on xyz as opposed to com like previous interviewees (Raymond/Andrew ?)...

Don't blame the seller

Perhaps because a 50k .xyz would be 1m+ in .com :xf.wink:

I've seen frivolous purchases for much more money. Money is relative and motivation is subjective.
Each week, from the same buyer?

Do someone send a message to swatha on X?

(s)he left the forum because it became more and more difficult to explain all those "sales"

oh yea? and do u also have clever reason why they would pay 50k for xyz and not 5bucks for one of the trillion other tlds?

There are comparisons. Every industry involving sales has super sales people and not so good. The not so good usually try to figure out what the super sales are doing or how they are doing it.

If someone started selling .pro/so/top for 5 figs on a semi regular basis, there would still be those turning their heat to that top seller, insisting that the tld doesn't justify 5 fig+ sales prices, but instead, some arbitrary ceiling of $10k max.

Some here forget the old adage that the price is whatever the buyer is willing to pay.

Then and now and also in the future, there always will be a demand for good 1 dictionary word domains.
But they aren't worth 20k and above.
Not the XYZ extension.
The XYZ sales were reported since 2015, but only Swetha "sells" them for skyrocketing prices.
Turn on the logic (if you have it), and calculate how much Swetha had to spend on renewals before (s)he started to "sell" their domains.
I made around 400k within the last few years (not in domaining), and yes, it was also big luck, but even having money for such an investment, I would never risk them, because this is a high risk.
Remember the "King of the .top"?
He also invested in .top domains and what?
Do you seriously think somebody would risk a such risky investment by spending dozens of thousands of dollars yearly?
Why .XYZ and not BTC?
Do you remember the guy with .company domains?
Where is he?
I don't see a boom of .company domains.
Do you seriously believe a poor Indian girl invested her last rupees in XYZ domains and became a millionaire?
It's amazing how many blockheads are here....

Don't be so naive.

Swetha can be a real person or just a name for a bunch of the XYZ registrar accomplices. But there is the XYZ registrar behind him/her. Yes, XYZ domains cost 1 USD but renewals cost 10 USD, so now calculate her or his amount of domains and multiplicate per 10 USD = this is the sum he or she had to pay yearly to keep all those domains.

This is a scam, the XYZ registrar makes all 1-word domains premium, and this way they bump the worth of XYZ domains. Ok, this is what they think. But the only thing they did with all this scam was to ruin the rest of the reputation of the XYZ domains.

So if someone wants a good keyword XYZ domain, they have to pay a high price to either XYZ registrar or Sweta (they are the same thing since Sweta is backed by XYZ registrar). But there is no XYZ sales, so they "buy" their own domains and then report "sales".

The only thing I can't understand is why many veteran domainers and admins of NamePros support this lie. But they do support it. They can't be so naive, so they have an interest in this deal.
A great idea would be to get her top 20 sales she shared and check if they are developed. Maybe one buyer may even reveal if the sale really came from her, and expose some other players(that's if any were even sold) maybe see where they are pointed to.. I don't think her story holds up to any testing tbh. I support privacy, but when you start to share all your sale spublicly, then people have the right to questions those sales and ask questions.

After all this time, not a single person has had or shared any concrete evidence of wrongdoing. I don't see any reason to question her sales or Mike Mann's or anyones for that matter. I got into domain investing because of my love for domain names and to make extra money. Not to be a detective.

You are wrong, it should be a concern.

For example, it concerns me a lot because I am an honest and fair person, and I am also very impulsive. It infuriates me when scammers deceive naive fools.

I donโ€™t consider XYZ domains valuable, but one-word domains or good two-word domains always have some value. Not 5-number price, but somethingโ€”they are worth something... or could have been, if not for Swethaโ€™s fake sales. They have ruined the remaining reputation of XYZ domains.

Their plan is very simple: the XYZ registry marks all one-word domains as premium with high renewal fees, and they do this with every dropped domain. As a result, Swetha ends up being the only one with one-word XYZ domains with standard renewal fees. Then, they "sell" these domains and report the sales.

Yes, I believe that some XYZ domains are sold for $1,000โ€“$20,000 or even more per domain. However, these sales are driven by the hype created by Swetha. And it's also possible that someone else decided to use these transactions as a way to launder money.

I understand that bluffing can be a business tactic, but Swetha takes it a step further by coming to the domainers' forum and reporting fake sales. How many newbies have lost money trying to replicate her "success"? This isnโ€™t just bluffing as a business tacticโ€”this is outright fraud.
You don't seem to be honest or fair when you're calling somebody a scammer constantly without any actual proof. You seem kind of jealous along with some others here that always pop up in these threads. Maybe, just one of her .xyz sales are more than they've ever made?

She's went beyond most people in providing proof. First, posting the sales, putting it out there for people to see and go thru, all the way to letting Nabebio and I think DNJournal log into their Afternic accounts to check out the sales.

Now, I don't like scammers myself and if somebody actually had proof of wrongdoing, then light them up. But right now it looks like just a bunch of slander from jealous people.

This will not prove anything...
The registrar can "develop" a site..
A simple frontpage + some text will take 30 min..

Swetha is a scammer, and XYZ is behind her or him, or whoever is...
You have no proof of her or his "sales" and blindly believe in all these fake "sales"
