.us Surprised to see these available, “ cityof . .us “

I just registered a few more city names in the form of “ cityof ….. .us “ , I was surprised to see names such as “ cityoftucson.us “ or “ cityofcoloradosprings.us “ available to hand reg , I find these names to be very valuable because these could be made into visitor guides for each city, I know a lot of people are registering geo domains related to different services, real estate, hotels, and lawyers, but I think that the city name itself could be made into a portal to cover all those things in one place.

I am glad you picked up some of the other extensions too, the more extensions are taken the better it is for the domain values. I had recently noticed an increase in the traffic for some of the other .US city domains that I already have, so I decided to add some more to my collection specially now that godaddy has $5.99 sale . There might not be as many high profile sales right now but the type-ins have surely increased for .US domains and for those who want to keep their domains on long term bases .US is actually doing great.

I agree with oldtimer. I saw that New York uses CityofNewYork.us as a portal so I registered (couple years ago):

wow, Nice! Have you tried contacting anybody in the respective governments? You could offer the domain name and the chance for them to let you design their site. It could be a very profitable web design service and after you got a few to sign up you could be the industry standard for such government sites

Found a few more that I liked, this brings my .US city domains to around 200. I hope that I can look back in ten years and be happy that I got almost all of them at reg fee.
