.us .US City ?

I was just reviewing the domains that the .US reg has reserved for cities. From what I have read these domains are to be used by city gov for blog sites, forums and community information, etc.

Some cities I looked up were incorrectley named, i.e., they included town, city in the name when it was not appropriate.
What if someone got one of those names with the proper spelling, would NeuStar snag it?
Would it be a good idea to put some dev time in it and maybe set up a community blog, forum or...

Is it one of the reserved, or should have been reserved cities, i.e., LosAngelesCa.US, SanFranciscoCa.US, NewYorkNY.US (the reserved format)? Or is it LosAngeles-Ca.Us, SFCA.US, NYNY.us, NewYorkCity.us?

Most of the names on the US reserve list were released by the registry in two drops, one in November 2004 and one in December 2004. I snagged a few premium domains and one of my (now) partners snagged a few thousand. No one else was watching when they dropped. We started working together after the drop.

The list you see on their site is way out of date.

That is not where I got it, but interesting info I will have to check out!

I was lucky, he was sharp. My best from that drop have been sold including Illinois .us, Minnesota .us, RhodeIsland .us and Washington .us. I still have others like NativeAmerican .us, Vets .us and more. He had the other nine states dot us that dropped. All the others are registered by state governments for 50 to 100 years.

Nice. Are you braggin' :hehe: cause I think those formats are great! LosAngelesCA.US belongs to LA and NewYorkNY.US belongs to NY. I think these are acceptable hypens. :imho:

Well not really, I was just curious because you had mentioned one of my domains in your post. What do think of nyc-ny.us
