Hi there,

I will be very thankful to this forum If I could find the exact cause of the supplemental results for my site.

I want to know the following two things. Kindly tell me the EXACT reasons and solutions for them.

1. What's are the major causes of supplemental results for a unique website?

2. How to get rid of/avoid the Supplemental results and how much time is required for re-indexing the supplemental pages?

I will really appreciate any help in this regard.

To get out of supplemental results make sure that the site is not only unique but has some content in it. The content should also be unique on most of the pages if not all.

Let me explain with an example:

You have page X which is showing in supplemental results.
1) Create more pages in the website with good content and thus your site will have more pages in the index.
2) Rewrite that page X yourself or hire a content writer to write it for you.
3) If possible then get some links for that particular page from relevant sources.
- Like if the page is about domains then get some links for other domains related blogs or article sites with the link to that page of yours.

If you have lots and lots of pages like this then this can take a lifetime but there are other ways to get out of supplemental results.

As Nick said you should get some inbound links but not only from relevant pages but from pages with decent PR such as PR 4 or 5 to have some trustworthy links coming in.

Also check out your Page titles of your supplemental results, are these all unique for all pages?
Are the Meta description and keywords tags unique as possible?

You may have canonical URL problems which is frequently the cause of pages going supplemental since Google regards absolute and relative URLs as separate pages and seeing the exact content can cause your pages to go supplemental.

You need to utilize
301 Redirects to solve this problem.

Also try do some interlinking between pages that are not supplemental to supplemental pages.

I think implementing above advice from Nick and me will get a great deal of pages out of the supplemental index.
Although adding more pages alone like Nick advised isn't really going to help you directly to get your pages out of the supplemental index.

You would need to analyze the pages in question and try to find out which of the above points is applicable to your situation. Most likely your Page titles are not unique and you'll see a lot of identical Page Titles turning up doing a search for your supplemental pages only.

And the lack of 301 redirects for www to non www and from non www to www will most likely be the cause for your problem.

Do a search for your supplemental pages with the following search command to see how your supplemental pages appear:

site:www.yoursite.com *** -sljktf

So you can start your research.

Please help

Hi there,

I have the following things.

1. Unique content on every page more than 700 words article on every page.
2. Unique Title of every page, unique description, keywords, alt tag of every page.
3. Good back links to the home page.
4. No material is duplicated on my site.
5. Weekly organic traffic from Google jumped from 100 to 250+

Now.

1. Weekly traffic from 250+ weekly to only 70.
2. site:www.domainname.com showed 91 pages
3. now site:www.domainname.com shows only 18 pages.

And,

I am seeking help to pin point the exact cause of the problem so that I can start work to resolve it.

If anyone can find out the exact problem for the supplemental result, I will be really thankful for him/her.

Looking forward for some help.
Best Regards

I noticed you don't have redirects in place for redirecting non www links to www links and the other way around.

First i would do is to fix that problem, see my above 301 redirects link to learn more about this.
Secondly build some inbound links to your supplemental pages.
You need to build up some PR and link those PR pages to your supplemental pages.
Give it some time and see what happens then.

That's my advice to you ;)
Good luck

Run your site through http://www.copyscape.com/ - 6 results

It looks like you use the same description for some of your inbound links. Google might be counting that as duplicate content.
