Domaining by nature is a business which does not have any standard learning materials. Most of us have learnt to play by trying hard even after falling again and again.

Are there any super secret tips or tricks that you have devised which you think only you (or a handful of other people) would know .. Things that you have NEVER EVER shared with anyone.

You do not need to disclose those tricks, but just mention if there are any... Yes/No .. :)

There is no secret at all. The only condition to make sales is to own quality inventory.

Common sense is probably the biggest determining factor to success and you can't buy that.
Buy good quality domains that make business sense.
Get them in the distribution channels that exist to get your inventory in front of the right eyeballs.

This will allow you to continue on with life, web development etc... and just respond to offers when they roll in. Most of my offers that come in and result in sales happen when I'm out driving, having fun or sleeping.

The alternative is a portfolio of junk that you have to email people on because you never receive offers. So now your working day in and day out and when you deduct the hours your really not making much at all and now you have a job.

I've seen a lot of portfolios and while some are better than mine and equal to mine the majority leave a lot to be desired. If you wanna sell to end users then buy domains that make end user sense. You shouldn't have to explain a domain to someone the domain should scream profitable business sector on it's own. You wan't end user money then buy end user domains.

So I'd go...

#1 Quality Domains
#2 Distribution Channels to dangle the inventory in front of them as someone that knocks on your door first will equal a much higher ROI than emailing 100 people that never got off the couch to find your domain. This may include GoDaddy, Sedo etc... but can also include Twitter etc... as you want to connect quality domains with where the end users hang out.
