"Olympics" are off limits because of TM issues as far as I know.

Correct me if I'm wrong,

Yes, Olympics is trademarked and the Olympic Committee doesn't give a chance to ANYONE...

Why do you think that SummerOlympics.co.uk was available to reg? Specially when the next Olympic Games are in London...

If anyone has any further doubts on this matter...

From the second link:

The Amateur Sports Act, 36 U.S.C. 380, gives the International Olympic Committee the exclusive right to prevent any person from using the following items for the purpose of trade, to induce the sale of any goods or services, or to promote any theatrical exhibition, athletic performance, or competition:

(...)

The words Olympic, Olympiad, Citius Altius Fortius, or any combination or simulation thereof tending to cause confusion, to cause mistake, to deceive, or to falsely suggest a connection with the corporation of any Olympic activity.

Wow. Thanks very much! I will be sure to only speak of the word in conjunction with "Trademarked" from now on. Very shady business imo. Smart, but shady. Thanks for the info.

From my own research, the IOC is rabid about pursuing the Olympic trademark. On the other hand, I've seen one .net "Olympic" domain registered in Australia stay up throughout the Beijing games (with content). It was only registered in May, though. I think it's virtually assured that the IOC will come knocking on your door. Sorry to be a buzzkill.

I own LondonXXX.co.uk, incidentally (2012 will be the XXX Games).
