Can we all try to limit messages like "Hey, the guy who PMed me his banner, I like it" in the design section? You can simply reply to that PM with the same notice ;)

What do you all think? If it's PM - then it's none of our business, and why do we have to read private messages in public?

i think that if there is a design competition then people shouldn't be allowed to pm entries. This is unfair on those other people who want to asses the standard of work on the board and include their own entry, also if the guy "likes" that picture the others should be alowed to see that picture so they can adjust their ideas accordingly. Also, some people don't want to go into competitions and the such-like and it is easier for people to ask a specific person if they have seen their previous work.

I disagree PoorDoggie. I think a designer should decide to enter a contest based upon the prize, not based upon the quality of work that has been submitted. Typically when you post a design in the forum, and the contest starter says he likes it, then the other designers just copy and make similar designs, which really isn't fair to the person who made the original design. As for the original topic of the thread, I don't really have a problem with it, as people always want to know who is in the "lead" of the contest.

Staying on topic, I don't really think there is a need for a "crackdown" on such posts. I think they are minimal and are of no trouble.

I was on-topic. I just went one step further. If PM'ing designs is allowed, then a competition owner should have the decency to say that he has received a design over PM, and what he thinks of it, so that other people know where they stand. Also if at the end the competition runner says "I'm going for the one I got over PM" then people might suspect him of scamming them or something. Also by saying that one has come over PM it is telling other people that the person is OK with PM entries. I still disagree with PM'ing entries though!
