I'm going to write a blog post about the Top 10 mistakes a domain investor can make; if anyone wants to contribute then please make your suggestions below!

They can be anything related to domain names. I'll use the best ones in the article - crediting you, of course.

My mistake. sometime i get emotional for domain name.
When everyone buying 4L for 20-$40. I bought 1 domain for $650 because of my stupid emotions. :-/

Biggest Mistake: Investing more than needed in other TLDs ( other than .com) !!

.com is the king and will be so for at least next 5-10 years to come !!

1. Bit of Greed - AKA - " Pigs get fat / Hogs get slaughtered "
Declining very substantial profits on several names a dozen plus years ago, while awaiting the never to materialize gigantic profits;

2. Failure to diversify early purchases -
Had a gazillion opportunities to buy names in 1996 / 1997/1998 in far more in-demand areas than those I acquired;

3. Underestimating the " end-user " marketplace -
If want to sell to end users, incumbent in many cases to go and find 'em myself rather than waiting for 'em to find my domains and beg me to sell to them!

SOLD fo 17K when could sell for 25-50k

Buuut bought for 2.5$ still happy with a win of 6800% :P

the most current mistake is , that I just paied godaddy backorder 27$ , when is already in redemptionPeriod means I paid for nothing, because chance is that it will get caught by godaddy is miserable... even though godaddy is the registrar
