Don't see much value right now, certainly not $400. Estibot is often wrong on .mobi valuations. It might get better as we get a record and history of .mobi sales over the years.

The term has 132 wordtracker.

.com/.net/.org all parking pages.

Reg fee or less. If it were me and I still could, I'd get a refund.

I d give it at least reg fee given the name is taken in most major extensions.

As far as estibot goes I think the bulk tool works well and averages out when you have 100 + names and I use it as a general way to gauge the value of my entire portfolio. On the other hand, pricing on individual names, particularly in the mobi extension, is dicey.

As an example of a couple I own, duvet.mobi checks in at $4,500 where as RoadBike.mobi gets reg fee- $50 range. Now neither are worth several thousand dollars but roadbike is far better suited to the extension than duvet.

Since about 90% of all domains registered are effectively worthless, I don't think the fact that most exts are taken gives it any more value. It could mean that some people who didn't know what they were doing went out and reg'd all the extensions.

No I dont think because it is registered in the extensions necessariily adds value but it does mean some people, for whatever reason, see value in it. I am certainly not arguing this is a great name, but the registrations in other extensions does show there are at least several people out there willing to pay reg fee for different versions of it and the name could have some use. By and large though anyone registering anything is better off right now buying second hand since you can occassionally find great prices and I don't think we disagree on that. Back to the original question, and garett and myself are essentailly disagreeing over a couple bucks not hundreds; stick to the secondary market unless you have specific plans to develop or are picking up a name potentially based on future technology.

Don't go by Estibot ... this is a $0.00 - Reg. fee+/- (undeveloped) .MOBI domain name IMHO. :blink:

Best of Luck.

reg fee+ if you work to get endusers to post discounts on your mobi and then market it with flyers/posts, it could be something. But risk/reward you're looking at a hard road - a lot of work for a name in an extension that doesnt get traffic yet. so reg+ if youre willing to work for it, refund from a resellers perspective though.

i think a name regd in many major extensions can lend information to an experienced domainer (incl. when reg'd/by whom). in that knowledge and information is known as the most valuable property, then the information is better to have than not have. And if it fools one into regging, hopefully it is less often than common. Also i have seen several trends in regging with mobile related names in info, net and org that has proven helpful to me - in breaking my wallet or making me rich we will have to wait 'n see. :)

.mobi is so hard to appraise. You've got your premium single-word domains selling for big bucks, but the TLD is still purely speculative, it has no foothold on the functional Internet. I would not personally reg student airfare .mobi, but I can see why you did - it's a strong keyword with lots of searches and a very competitive PPC keyword with loads of ads appearing. As a .net or .com this would be a mega keyword, but as a .mobi? Only the future of the .mobi TLD will show. I'm personally very skeptical of the future of .mobi, but if it is indeed adopted as the "default" TLD for mobile devices, then the market will be huge, given the explosive increase in mobile devices, which is only going to get bigger. Right now I feel that the whole market is purely speculative since you don't really have to have .mobi to have a mobile compliant website. I'm wagering ccTLD's will be the next big thing, but I digress.

Reg fee, then, my appraisal for this one (undeveloped!), good search term though it is.

How do you figure it has a lot of searches? It has a very low Wordtracker score. Doesn't even make logical sense that it would get a lot of searches.

2250 wordtracker per month plus a long tail. overture >3,000 and good data in Google Adwords, too.

I just don't think those numbers are good enough to reg a .mobi name. Not even close. Unless of course it was just a killer fit with the extension, which it is not.

I agree with you on that, I'd only get the .com and the .net with those stats. Just saying it is a nice search term with a lot of competition.

This name is worth more than "regfee" - UNdeveloped and obviously more when developed.

studentairfare stats:
Wordtracker=132
Overture=3025
Google=Results 1 - 10 of about 2,030,000 for student airfare
Google - 98 sponsored links

Before stones (i.e., "+/- regfee") get thrown around casually by glasshouse dwellers they should remember the recent past. For example, here is an historical comparison for a random UNdeveloped .mobi name that sold here at NP:
skedaddle.mobi:
Wordtracker=10
Overture=172
Google=Results 1 - 10 of about 180,000 for skedaddle
Google - 1 sponsored link
skedaddle.mobi sold for low $xx +/- UNdeveloped

Good luck with the name.
