Hopefully with the GoDaddy/Afilias proposal to take over the usTLD, .us sales will be picking up some.

I have just always liked the .us domain for branding names, just because you can make cool phrases with it. I also like it because there are still plenty of names for those us who got into domaining way too late.

I was just looking and there are still many good dictionary words available in the .us space. Hint: look for irregular verbs (i.e, brung), alternate spellings (i.e., appendices vs appendixes), irregular plurals (corpora), and different verb forms such as the gerund (conning). The Moby dictionary is a good source for these words.

The list was way too long for me to invest in, but I did grab these:
focuses.us, retried.us, undid.us, sprang.us, wrung.us, saleable.us, rewrote.us

Agree - GoDaddy-ish exposure can only help build (bring) awareness to the .US extension.

Disagree- For those not yet into the .US extension, I'd suggest focusing more on regging or buying good two-word keyword names rather than registering obscure words or brandable terms. Think of the future potential buyers - and the size of the market for each of the names. It is absolutely a fun mental exercise to think up brandable names or to find obscure dictionary terms still available for reg fee - BUT - if you want to increase your odds of eventually finding buyer for your names - they should have real world, business world appeal. If the keywords are good enough at the very least they can be parked and might get some traffic while you wait for the market to catch up.

Best of luck. The .US extension does have a lot of upside potential.
