Stats not updating? WHY?

recently my (webalizer & awstats) stats are not updating. cPanel.

i've been using the same account for over a year with ZERO PROBLEMS.

i haven't changed anything.

TWICE in the last few weeks, I've contacted my host and they've "manually" updated my stats (ran a script or something?) - and sure enough, the stats appear to update.

once again my stats are NOT updating.

what is going on, what are your best suggestions?

THANKS!

mike

Most likely the host is having an issue with their server... they should be able to fix it if you let them know that it isn't automatically updating... if not, switch hosts.

All of the statistical reports are updated every 24 hours. All of the bandwidth information is updated every 6 hours. If you wish to compare data from each statistics program you should only compare data that is at least 36 hours old to ensure that it has been updated and is providing the correct information. Please note these times are estimates, and are subject to change based on the amount of traffic on the server.

If they can't get it to automatically update, ask them to enable the function that allows cPanel users to update them theirselves. This function is available in the root WHM under Tweak Settings:

THANKS FOR THE INFO!

I hate to switch hosts, but I will if this continues.

I'm going to check into the "user updates own stats" thing. Will let you know how things go. :)

Cheers,

Mike

Yep, I'll echo what Joey said, if you're host can't fix this then it's time to move.

if you have ssh access as root you can do it via ssh (putty.exe)
change directory to your tmp files
if your username is bob
/home/bob/tmp/analog/*
/home/bob/tmp/webalizer/*
issue the command
rm -rf /home/bob/tmp/analog/*
rm -rf /home/bob/tmp/webalizer/*

that's the way to clean it, it will all be empty regenerate a blank stats page
issue this line command:
/usr/local/cpanel/cpanellogd bob

issue this command
/scripts/cleanbw

and then this command (if you want to force update your stats)
/scripts/runweblogs bob

remember to replace "bob" with your actual username

Automatic stats updates usually fail when server load reaches a certain threshold by default... if you are the root owner, you can change this value, but the main issue when you are a customer is to enquire about the server load and see what can be done

Good luck!
