cPanel Stats not updating?

Hi,

All of my stats haven't updated since September 13, 2005. I searched Google and it looks like some other peopke have had this problem. I really want to see where my traffic is coming from and I want to see how many people come to my site per day. I don't want to go through the hassle of changing hosts again even though I've emailed them four times and they haven't emailed me back with a good response. They also haven't fixed it as you can see.

Has anyone had this problem before and if so how did you fix it. Analog, Awstats, and Webalizer are all down but it's weird because it shows the latest visitors but those take time to read.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to mention I also can't receive any emails to my domain.

What did your host say? In awstats can you click the "update now" button? Or does it update every xx hours?

I would email your host saying how you're sick of this and how things have gone unfixed* for too long. If you don't fix this problem within the next week I will be moving to another provider. If you need more than this time please reply and explain why.

*This isn't the word i'd use, but i've got a blank on the better one!

Also; remember, if you don't want to move, don't move...but they don't need to know that!

(that's how my friend saves ยฃ15/$35 on his internet every month, lucky son of a * B-) )

It doesn't even have the "Update Now" feature. It updates automatically.

I emailed the host two times then the third time I emailed them I said I haven't received a response. Someone answered, "You haven't received a response yet." or something close to that and I haven't heard from them since.

This a most likely a problem with your hosts server and not cPanel servers as a whole. I'd suggest moving to a new reputable host. There's nothing you can do yourself, it's upto your host to fix.

Yeah, it's the host who has got a problem with the stats software on the system, not your fault

That's due to server load...image everyone on the server updating that stats every 2 seconds! I've only got it enabled because I couldn't live without it, so why should my clients?

It does sound like you're current host is hopeless and you need to move on!

IMO you should move to another host.

Log into FTP, tmp-->awstats-->awstats.YourDomain.conf--> Find "AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=0" and change it to "AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=1"

that's a good trick, thanks for that. Really needed this. :)

Time to move hosts.

When it comes to details like this, it's their job.

That worked for Awstats! That's basically all I need for now and the email problem is really that big. I can change hosts later when my site gets bigger but it's good enough for now.

Thanks a lot! I didn't think it would work but they sure updated :) :) :)

Not all the time is it the web hosts fault. cPanel is known to be very buggy. In this case there was no proof that it was in fact the web hosts fault. We have servers where we have to write custom scripts merely to get the Awstats to work because our clients have VERY popular sites and cPanel messes up.

Am I saying its the customers fault? No, but right now according to the information contained in this thread no one should be making statements saying "Move hosts" there is simply too many possibilites of things that could be going wrong, such as the customer may not be receiving any emails back because of spam filters, or the customer is filling in the wrong email address or filling in the email address that isn't working. Or heck, the support system for the host was down.

Am I the host of kjmz domain? No (I don't even know which domain shes talking about), though of course I wouldn't mind being the host. But I am merely posting some unbiased information as opposed to merely "move host" and I'll pray you move to mine.

Either way KJMZ, try alternative contact methods and get ahold of your host and ask them about the lost emails and what happened before you consider moving hosts and good luck with your site.

lol first off I'm a guy, secondly I contact them through the form on their website, and last but not least I check my Spam Filter every day.

Send them an email then. My point was the primary method your using to contact them may be down and they may not realize it (which isn't a valid excuse anyway).

P.S. Sorry about the she part and I hope im helping.

Well they have replied to it two times but haven't done anything.

What was their reply? Did they mention a cPanel ticket or anything?

I'd be careful with the update link, as if they find out they may be a bit annoyed. Mind you I am leaning on the cautious side for you.

Yes it is the host's fault regardless or not if cPanel works. It's their job to know that the server and it's features either work or don't work. I'd love to use the excuse everytime that it's cPanel's fault but the reality of the situation is someone has to fix it.

Exactly, "someone". Not all the time does the host know cPanel inside out. Remember there are lots of newbie hosts out there. Therefore they may need to contact cPanel for a fix.

Most of the replies above were simple, move hosts. Everytime someone posts a problem on here we shouldn't say "switch hosts" like most people do. Heck I've seen people post problems with outgoing/smtp email. Then another hosts would post "switch hosts" yet the problem was the OP was having issues with SMTP email because their ISP was filtering port 25.

I am not saying that this is the case here, I am merely saying people should be more supportive as opposed to saying "Switch hosts". 99% of the people that say switch hosts are merely hosting companies. Heck I've also seen some people post messages about problems and then "x" company would post "switch host" and then later on "x" hosting company would say "don't switch hosts because your my customer"!

This isn't an email issue this is an Awstats issue which is controlled soley by the host. With the exception of the above fix, the user has no control over this such as changing ports and there isn't much of a third party issue here either. The fact is the responsibility rests soley in the hands of the host here and they're not getting the job done. It's their job to make sure a fairly common program either works or that they remove it from the CP which can be done fairly easily.

So your saying you've never had a cPanel program break on you? It may be solely controled by the host but remember not all the time will the host have the answers. cPanel contains a lot of programs within it. For instance AwStats. Will the host always have the answer? No, sometime they will need to go to the developers. Its like me building a script for you and people expecting you to know that advanced script inside and out. What happens when something breaks and you can't fix it because it all looks fine? Does that mean your going to merely disable the program and never use it again? Your a good person and you'd do what any smart host would do, go to the end of the world to get it fixed and if that means contacting the developer of the script, then so be it. But just because you can't fix someone elses script doesn't mean you should completely drop it.

Anyway, my point is there is not enough information here to make an assumption of whom is to blame. Yes it could be cPanel's fault and yes it could be the hosts fault. We are clearly debating over a grey area as we don't have enough information. Therefore without the proper information we are unable to say whom is at fault however I will say it is the hosts responsibility to ensure it is fixed.
