Standard Redemption Fee

Greetings!

I am wondering, what is the standard redemption fee when a domain expires?
I am asking this because this is what usually happens at Stargate:

1. Your domain expires. Stargate puts it under "Delayed Renewal" status for 5 days where you can renew it for the same renewal price.

2. After 5 days, Stargate puts it on "Redemption Period" for 30 days where you will need to pay $149.00 for the domain to be renewed.

3. After 30 days from Redemption Period, the domain should have expired, but this is not safe to wait since most domains are grabbed upon expiration.

I assume that this is different from GoDaddy.

Thank you very much. Now, we have to pay Stargate 149 USD for an expired domain. Our alternative is to backorder it at GoDaddy. Any thoughts?

:)

There's no standard redemption fee. Registrars are free to set their own price.

Go Daddy charges about $80 while, as you said, Stargate charges $149 for it.
Netsol charges $150 while Bulkregister, if I recall right, charges about $300+.

Don't use Go Daddy for backordering. It's either you redeem it with Stargate,
or use better ones like Enom Club Drop or Pool (although both have their share
of "detractors").

At times even Snapnames gets lucky.

I think it depends on whether or not anyone else would want the name.

If it was ever developed and has traffic, or is a good name anyway, then you better either pay the $ or risk someone else beating you to the name (Using a different drop service), or worse, getting into a bidding war for your name.

Don't use godaddys back ordering service, that won't work.

I think the registry charges each registrar 65.00 for redemption. Each one marks it up as they wish to do

If you're referring to the redemption fee, it's $80. And you can only redeem a
deleted domain that's in RGP with its last sponsoring registrar, no one else.

I would suggest backordering it, unless the site itself gets 200+ uniques a day.
