From an admob newsletter:
"Attention Publishers with Sprint Traffic
Sprint recently began transcoding PC websites for their users. In some cases, existing mobile sites may also get transcoded resulting in adjustments to the look and feel of the site. There are a few easy ways to make sure your site is not modified in the transcoding process so that your customers can continue to access the original mobile version. For example, you can add a mobile specific prefix, such as wap.* or m.* or you can use the .mobi Top Level Domain."
So yes, you can have wap.whatever.com or you can have m.whatever.com but you will have to rewrite your site to avoid getting it messed up. Or, you can use a .mobi and Sprint will leave your site alone and let it be seen as nature and the developer intended it.
