I noticed that I couldn't manually catch expiring .us names anymore. I was able to catch them before, but a couple of weeks ago it changed. It looks like one company is grabbing every single expiring .us name automatically, probably for kiting. Proof: look at the following name - no one in their right mind would grab this name if not to check for leftover traffic...other names turn up the same whois info as well. They do release most of the names when the trial period is over, so it's worth checking again later.

.US domains.US domains
I am surprised this has happened ages ago actually. :(

A lot of the best .us names wont have much traffic, if any, so we should still see the good one word domains and LLL.
Thats if they dont manually check for obviously inherently valuable domains...

Between Spot and the Godaddy service, I haven't been able to catch a thing anymore off of dropping .us names which had been a decent source of income for me. It really stinks for us, but there isn't much to be done about it at this point I am afraid.

Yep, once they became valuable things always change.

Money brings out the beasts with real money and power and the little man is but a tiny mite on the lions back... :(

Pretty much. It doesn't take money to make money, but it sure is easier. :)

If i was a domain registrar with that much money, I would do that too. Sucks :(. Big guys are soon going to take us all out eventually on the drops.

There was a time, when I could regularly fill my plate with delicious .US drops, warm and fresh from the oven, enough to satisfy my appetite and still have leftovers to re-heat later.

Now I'm lucky to get 2-3 good names a month. I am hungry.... :'(

Ive gotten about 50 names this month that I like, you all must be doing something wrong lol.

Maybe nobody is doing anything wrong, maybe there's just a world of difference between what DB considers "good names" (2-3) a month and names "you like".

GD caught a .US name for me today btw, (visitphoenix.us) so they're not out of the picture.

The dropping .us names have really deteriorated. There used to be some really nice drops (one word, LLL, etc.) but now we have horrible dropping names like ENCHANTEDPORTRAITSEBOOKWEDDINGPICTURESVIDEO.US (dropped today, donate NP$ if you reg it :p)

I was joking about other's doing something wrong, hence the "lol". Also you just stated the reason I chose to say "domains I like" rather than those that db likes thank you.

You're very welcome. Just curious how much competition you think you had for 'computerlemonlaw.us', 'polarizedsunglasses.us' and 'daugthersofliberty.us' ? Err, congratulations, did you check to see if the .MOBIs are available too? lol.

(I can say what I like as long as there's a lol on the end, right?), lol

Btw, on a more constructive note, communi-gal (spelling may be wrong) started doing this a few months ago too but quickly stopped. I don't think the traffic/income is there to make a success out of .US domain tasting yet, and each reg does still cost them 25c, so it might not last for long.

Tsk, tsk, "GFY" isn't very Namepros now is it?

Which is it, do you want to know my point (you asked the question after all) or do you truly not care? Maybe I'm just not good at logic, but seems to me it can't be both. Let's go with the first.

My point is whether there's a "lol" there or not, don't tell a bunch of people they must be doing something wrong without offering any constructive advice on what they could be doing better and not expect to be challenged on it. If you can't handle the challenge without getting insulting then hold the snide comments in the first place.

On the comment about the domains you're doing just fine with, excuse me for not realizing you bought the domains to develop. I mistook the domains being listed on the front page of your generic portfolio site labelled 'no minimum offer' as an attempt to sell. My bad.

Have your last word and a pleasant evening, I won't continue this, lol.

Well if you had both hands on the chainsaw in proper positions it would not have happened. Really it was not an accident but rather intentional misuse that caused your finger to be removed. Your statement unfairly makes the chainsaw out to be some kind of dangerous device when in fact it is only the user who is dangerous. Also, your use of "horrible" is questionable as again the statement that it was an "accident" is in doubt. The truth is likely "I just cut off my finger with a chainsaw while shaving" which is more of a horrible decision. After you lost your nose last year and half of an ear, I thought you would have at least switched to a hedge trimmer. And while you guys in Texas are tough, let's not forget what happened when you used that cheese grater for an athletic cup. Best of luck with typing a response you fingerless freak.

And by the way, most dot us names droping this time of year are crappy anyway unless you are looking to pick up some of the former US reserve names that have anniversaries in November and December.

I agree...most drops are crappy, there are some worth checking out though. I'm doing my best to collect the available ones and posting the lists on the "available names" board.

Spot Domains LLC dba www.domainsite.com as their public registrar.

I didn't know they did dropcatch services but I see what you mean with the .us domains.
