Hi Guys and Gals,

As some of you here will know, sitting on ones derrier 24/7 tends to ensure you slip on a couple of extra unwanted Lbs.

In my case its got out of hand. Aside from my scales shouting "one at a time" when I got on them the other night, I couldnt help casting a glancery eye that the number on the Kg dial was almost 3 digits... 97Kgs to be precise..

So I need your help. Actually, we need your help. Joining me in a sponsored slim (for a charity yet to be decided) our nobel admin -RJ- is joining me for the ride.

Starting tomorrow (no really, for real) we intend, for the next 11weeks, to lose weight. 28Lbs each to be precise. Ending 20th December.

In true Vince McManus style we have privately been casting aspertions on each others ability to lose the weight and this is whats brought on this challenge - all in the name of fun. In all seriousness I do actually need a target in order for me to be able to do this.. And doing this for charity will be just the impetus i need.

So Im asking for your sponsorship. Will any of you be so kind as to sponsor us individually or as a collective duo?? NP$ for LBS.. i.e. 10NP$ per Lb or 200NP$ if the weight loss is achieved eg.

In true embarrassing fashion we will both post here at weekly intervals our progress and current weight / weight loss. And, as much as I trust -RJ-, our good ladies will act as adjudicators...

So please please post your sponsorship pledges here. You can even use this thread to make fun of us, if you so wish (within reason :) )

Please also feel free to recommend any good causes we can donate the sponsorship to. If I make my target weight i'll donate $100 to the fund.

All the best,

Ian aka Badger

PS I will win :)

It's going well, aside from the low-carb headaches. I'll give you a better update on Thursday.

Nick - thanks for the 200 NP$! I did hit the 10 lb mark as you guessed. I'm going to put that in the charity fund.

Keep up the good work guys!

Well, it's not official until tomorrow, about 11 hours from now. I've done a little peeking on the scale and am pretty sure I'll be past the 10 lb mark, unless I get into some serious binge eating relapses tonight. :D

Thanks for your support mis_chiff. I've been staying motivated and on the straight and narrow with the encouragement of everyone here in the thread.

I'm changing my sponsored charity to the Children With Diabetes Foundation. So any contributions or pledges can go straight to them at http://www.cwdfoundation.org/MakeDonation.htm It's a good charity and I'm happy to see anything go to the cause. It's one that has personal meaning to several people in my family.

Official update tomorrow. ;)

Thanks :)

I am again hoping you will be around 13 to 14 pounds mark instead of 10 ;)

Or will it slow down from here. The weight loss. :(

Official weigh-in for week 3: -3.5 lbs. Total -12.5.
8 weeks and 15.5 lbs to go.

Feels like I'm past the hard part and that I found my groove. Finding time for exercise still posing a challenge. Goals this week are to improve on exercise routine and to eat more vegetables.

With less weight slogging you down, do you find yourselves able to register domains faster? ;)

I have some horrible ideas about weight loss.

1) Fall in love :D Just keep thinking about her ;) [Yes don't start eating while you think]
2) Sleep less. One best thing would be to make 50 posts per day.
3) Fall ill... This is the best way to lose some weight.
4) Drink more if you are already drinking and just avoid eating after drinks :)

I think doing the above 4 things will be enough for losing 20 to 30 Lbs.

This are proved treatments of losing weight because I am not gaining any due to this habits.

What about having a charity ribbon for this one: http://www.worldheart.org/ (if there isn't already).

Congrats!

I'm not an expert on this, but for me it's been a matter of adopting good habits and sticking with them. Aside from a couple of bad days, I've avoided sugary foods, soda, and late night snacking. My wife has been very supportive and has helped keep the right foods on-hand here at home. We both check nutritional values on everything now.

I was traveling over the course of three days this week and had to make due with what meals were available without the benefit of being able to read labels. If not for that, I could have had a better week result-wise. I'll try to make it up this week.

Exercise is one area I would like to improve on. Maybe taking 30-60 minutes a day to go walking is what I need to try. I guess that's about all the insight I have to offer. :)

I want to give full kudos to RJ for his determination and willpower.
While we were at ICANN there were sooooooo many temptations and opportunities for him to just go full tilt into the all the outstanding foods, and even though I made a complete pig of myself, he ate sensibly.

Well done, bud!

Ian? You turn! :)

Yup, the big guy is destroying me, just like I said i would... wait a minute.. :-/

Im just the 6lbs lighter than whence i started. So, unless i turn up the gas (or turn off the gas more like) he's home and dry..

I heard the food was good at the Sony party K, didnt mean you had to take a bunch of it home - http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/hellagnarcal/santa2.jpg
