Ok - Ok, I know, If you are going to the crime, You have to do the time.

I got a ticket going 91MPH, In a 60MPH Zone, I could kick my ass for doing it, Actually, I was going some where around 110MPH before i got caught.

The highway was almost a ghost, No one on it, or i wouldn't have been running that fast, I wouldn't endanger other peoples lives.

I have a 1985 El Camino SS, That i have almost totally restored, I hardly get to drive it much, So i took it out for a very late night spin, I figured it had set for a month, with out even being started, So i would open it up a bit, to clean the valves. It has 350CID engine, With mega mods.

So i get pulled over by the Highway Patrol, State Trooper.

Was issued the ticket, I paid $270, + deferred judication, Or Defensive Driving, It takes 6 hours to complete Defensive Driving, I went to a comedy Defensive Driving school today, I spent 6 straight hours listening to a not so funny person, give instructions, Oh yea, The course comes with a free meal, I was at Golden Corral taking the course. By the sixth hour, I was getting pissed, Then finally, the exam, Awwwww , I was never so happy to be through with anything in my life.

I was going to just lay the ticket out in jail, Three days total, My wife wouldn't go for that. Jail is peaceful, In comparison to the comedy guy i had to listen to for 6 hours , Well, not really

Oh well, It's over and done.

Speed and pay the price!

I don't believe a 1985 El Camino SS can go that fast

Just kidding, i am glad you got it resolved :)

Cheers,

Sorry to hear that you got a ticket, John. :(

Next time you'll need to have a radar detector if you're going to go that fast. ;)

I too have a lead foot, but my detector is always on...works like a charm. :)

Insurance bills broke me of that Hot Rodding stuff a loooooong Time ago ;)

I remember getting a 97 in a 65 when I was coming home from Taking a state licensing test once ..... There was a party here in town and I was 200 miles away :guilty: - The Highway Patrolman told me he knew there were others on I-40 doing the same speed , But my little Canary Yellow Low Rider (Many moons ago) stuck out like a sore thumb

I have asked for a radar detector for my birthday, In a lot of instances here, Just trying to keep up with traffic, a person has to drive at least 10MPH over the speed limit. Otherwise people will run you over.

hehehehhe, She will run Frank, I pulled the engine for the rebuild, shortly after i purchased it, and had it bored .30 over, flat top pistons, the heads were ported and polished, aluminum push rods, A nice cam shaft, and a brand new crank.

But is was hard to pull the horsepower out of the old 350CID, A lot of the new cars today, are 300++ horsepower right from the factory.

My Tundra has 282HP from the factory, All i had to do to achieve over 300HP, was put a cold air intake on it. I wish it would have been that simple with the Camino, But to keep matching numbers, I had to use the original engine that came with it from the factory:(

Won't be much help when the local cops get their hands on LIDAR... it uses a focused laser beam to judge speed, and detectors won't pick it up because radar's waves/signal is about 80 feet; a LIDAR's is about 6 feet, so before it goes off, they got you. Although now they have LIDAR jammers, which are actually legal unlike radar jammers (because radar is radio on an FCC frequency, and it's illegal to transmit on them, but LIDAR is lasers so it's just a class 1 laser).

Got one yesterday.

I was going on a bike with my friend MarkHanrry who is also a NP member here.

He was driving and suddenly the Traffic police signalled us to stop. :(

Policeman asked for license but he didn't had [As his license was already taken from some other policeman in past]

We tried to spin a fast one. I offered that I have a license but the policeman said No he wants to see the license of the person driving :'( :D

In end had to pay the fine and we were off the hook.

I just received my first speeding ticket today, well yesterday. It's 12:53 AM now. I was going 76 in what I thought was a 70. Apparently it was a 60, so I received a $250 ticket. I've never been so much as pulled over, and I've been driving since I was 15.

So they got you on the "60MPH at night Law" ???

I got one doing the same thing as you, The speed limit is 70MPH during the day, 60MPH at night, I had drove for a few hours, from the day light into darkness, I never paid attention that the speed limit was 70MPH during day light, 60MPH at night.I was doing some thing like 81MPH in a 60MPH zone

John, you're a very, very bad boy. ;)

In times like that don't you just wish you had a radar detector? Too bad they made it illegal :td: When I drive, I'm always on the lookout for cops as I don't want to get a ticket for speeding. So far, I've managed to avoid a number of tickets by being alert :hehe:

This wasn't me but a coworker recently was going 88mph in a 63mph zone and got fined $400 and 6 points. Needless to say she wasn't happy about that one.

No, it was actually the daytime. If I had been going 4 more over it's considered reckless driving and I could have, and probably would have gone to jail.

No Sympathy

You were doing 110 MPH in a 23 year old car? You show no remorse. You could have killed someone or yourself and left many other victims behind, like your wife, to deal with their losses. You shouldn't have been offered traffic school.

Send me your pic and bio. I'll put up a site, speeder.us, just for you.

My GF got pulled over last week for having expired tags. The kick was that the Tags dont expire for ANOTHER YEAR. On top of that her insurance expired the week before and we were in the process of getting a new insurance company with cheaper premiums. So he proceeded to give her a ticket for $116.50, which he had told her it wasnt a ticket and was a warning. LMAO. So im really pissed about this because she should have never pulled her over in the first place. Now she has a SR-22 on her insurance which sucks. All because a cop either cant read or is just a plain ****. Ohh yeah this was at 4:30 am.

The last (and only) time I ever hit just over 100mph was when I was 16 at an abandoned air strip in Miami, Fla in a 1959 Plymouth.. my best friend (and passenger) freaked out that I was going so fast, lol!

If yer gonna speed, a racetrack (or airstrip) is the place to do it safely.

Glad it was just a ticket and mo one got hurt!

I frequently go 100+ when I have to make the drive from Tucson to LA. Long stretch of the I-10 that is just painful at normal speeds. It keeps me on my toes. I'm a much better driver when I'm focused, planning traffic 1/4 mile ahead and watching for cops than I am mindlessly cruising at 65.

I've gotten up to 98 or so many times just going back home from school and back. I35 is a great place to do it. I probably won't be doing it anymore with this ticket though.

I drive a 2002 Tahoe btw. It picks up speed fast, but has a govenor around 98 MPH.

It's an SUV. I wouldn't in my right mind take an SUV faster than 85. You're liable to roll that thing if you overcorrect from a strong gust of wind.

It's a pretty solid vehicle. It hardly moves with a lot of wind. I had a lot more trouble when I had a 96 F150. That truck moved a lot in the wind, and I took it up to 100 or so many times too. A Tahoe is more sound than you think. I only worry about it rolling when I'm taking sharp turns. I just slow down for those.

My dad is a serial speeder...he has 9 points on his licence and another speeding offence and he'll be off the road.

so i bought him a sat nav with a speed camera detector :hehe: it gives a warning of a speed camera a mile in advance - well worth the purchase!
