I just tried Spaceship.com. They're a NameCheap brand and launched their beta. I think they rightfully deserve a thread on NP to discuss our experiences with their new registrar.

Remember, it's still in beta so do expect some glitches, work to be done... Would be cool in someone from NC would care to chip in @tamar

Hello Ashraf, sorry to hear about the issue. I'd assume your domain was registered less than 60 days ago and that's why the transfer may have been rejected which is standard. You can also push a domain to another Spaceship account and handle the change of ownership this way.

As far as finding out how to transfer or obtain an auth code, I am not sure how much easier we can make this for you. We've even built a wizard that guides you in case you can't locate it in your domain list next to the domain as you can see in the attached video.

Beware all - Spaceship does NOT allow bulk transfers out. Clearly they offer bulk transfer tech since they allow Bulk transfers in.

So if it is your intention to bulk transfer in using their $8.17 transfer special - but then in 1 year transfer out, you're going to be doing that all manually. May not be worth the $2 per name savings. But then again - $2 per name for 1 yr is a lot of savings.

Yes, that is right only 25 days left to complete 60 days, could you transfer the domain to buyer registrar account, he wants to transfer domain to other registrar, i'll be great if you can do it.

Unfortunately the 60 day transfer lock is mandated to all registrars by ICANN and applies to all newly registered domains anywhere. The best thing to do here is push the domain to the new owner within Spaceship and then have them transfer to the registrar of their preference once the 60 day period is done.

Been happy with Spaceship overall. But their email service is quite poor. I switched to NameCheap (Private Mail) and they are having the same issues (Yahoo is throttling them). Both claim its yahoo so there is nothing they can do - but my emails from Gmail and Dynadot (via their email service) go to Yahoo straight away without issue.

My guess is Yahoo throttles NC and Spaceship due to spammers using their servers. Be careful if you try them. Of course I could be wrong. But I am not wrong about their emails not getting to yahoo while other emails get there straight away

It would be great if you can test this again.

I have no experience with Spaceship yet, but normally a domain transfer is initiated from the new registrar to which you wish to transfer the domain to.

At your current registrar Spaceship, you should be able to view the transfer code (AUTH code) for your domain, and also be able to unlock the domain.

Can you discover any of those options somewhere at Spaceship?

(probably you are already fully familiar with this process; and it's just Spaceship that is not user friendly)

Looks like you right, i think there is a bug here. There is No transfer out Option. i have done it one time- few month ago.

@CJ6 Allright, i found it. its indeed a bug. Agree with @future-sensors , Spaceship so bloated with those unnecessary "box".
So i click every box, and suddenly a popup "Feature tour" appear. And now the transfer menu can be seen. hope they fix it.

Go to "domain list" and just click on any domain and then you will see "transfer" on the menu that pops up on the right side of the page. That will let you unlock and see the auth code. Hint: click the domain name instead of the box to the left of the domain.

Weird. Make sure you're in Domain List (not Domain Portfolio).

(Spaceship should really build some redundancy).

Yep, that was the problem. I was in the Domain Portfolio.

Spaceship is too slow to update their domain availability database. You can't buy recently dropped domains on Spaceship.

For example, a domain that dropped 15 minutes ago will show as taken/unavailable on Spaceship, but you can go over to NameSilo and register it.

This is a deal breaker if you hand reg dropped domains.

This site is so bloated with way too many features and confusing "APPS" terminology. How is it an "APP" when its just a page on a website?

This whole site needs a major overall from a usability standpoint. Get rid of all this APPS BS and go to a simple user friendly interface.

Indeed, they need to simplify some functions. There is no need for all these confusing features on the main page. They could create one category and include them all there. Keep only the basic buttons on the main page, it will be a lot easier to navigate the website.

A couple of things here, most of our customers are not domainers. We built the portfolio app for our domainer centric customers and it can only be accessed in the library when searched for and then added to the launch pad.

We did this because most of the tools and requests we receive from domainers would simply confuse most regular customers and are unnecessary for them.

The domain list does the job for most of our non-domainer customers and we prefer to keep things very simple for them. Overwhelming feedback tells us we are on the right track.

Back to the domain portfolio, we are adding more and more features based on feedback from this community and things will continue to improve there. It will soon get to the point where you won't need to touch the domain list at all for anything if that's what you prefer. All the bells and whistles you have ever desired are being built as we speak and we'll just keep adding based on the continuous feedback we receive.

Lastly our powerful global search feature lets you get anywhere at any time by just typing. It's as powerful as Spotlight search is on a mac to find anything on your computer. You can find anything on Spaceship in pretty much the same way.
