Spaceship.com recently launched a new Marketplace section, and as NamePros has given me the go-head, I think the company deserves its own thread for NP domain marketplace users to converse in.

https://www.spaceship.com/sellerhub/

Personally speaking, I will be setting up a new Spaceship.com account this weekend and going to work investigating its various features, options and policies.

I am also from a small (sometimes cold) country, where we have new King. But I live in the neighboring country, where the King is old.
You are very welcome to guess the names of the two countries.

A few suggestions,
1. Spaceship should provide an option to add an expiry date for offers (buyer/seller).
2. I receive several spam inquiries through the landing pages. While there is an option to cancel a lead, having an option to delete the lead would be more convenient.
3. The negotiation section in the Seller Hub could be improved by providing a wider column. The area where the seller types messages needs to be larger, as the current small text column makes it difficult to see what we are typing or sending.
4. If the seller details within the negotiation column allowed for a company name instead of a personal name, it would appear more professional.

The first point is the big issue for me, as it seems like these Spaceship offers last forever, and you might be surprised to have a buyer hit the BIN button long after you made the offer. This could create problems, such as being in a current negotiation with a new buyer (maybe at a higher price) and then you're surprised when a buyer reawakens this ancient offer from hyper-sleep.

And IMO, every offer should have an end date, with the buyer given some flexibility to choose between X days or just sticking with the default. I seriously cannot believe that offers made at Spaceship literally last forever. It's so insane, I had to confirm it with support, and sure enough, offers never, ever expire and could theoretically be active for hundreds of years. Nuts.

The second one would also be a nice addition to keep the feebs, deadbeats and hobos away, albeit not as shockingly-necessary as clearing up that first point.

You can just cancel the lead, no?

or click on cancel offer

Obviously, but this an answer to a question that wasn't asked and I think everyone understands you can MANUALLY cancel an offer. That's the PROBLEM, not the solution.

Plus, it's hardly an elegant or seller-friendly process to get rid of old offers, especially for those with large portfolios and pages of open negotiations. It's like giving a hammer to a guy with an ant infestation and calling it a day. "Just hit 'em with the hammer'.

There are also other points to consider:

1) This "forever offer" format is not communicated anywhere in the negotiation system and I would bet few Spaceship users even realize that if each and every offer is not manually cancelled, then they will remain active forever.

2) To my knowledge, no major domain marketplace uses "forever offers" and all have expiry dates, with some offering flexibility to choose the number of days.

3) Sellers with massive domain portfolios that generate lots of offers each day are going to have a manual processing nightmare, deciding the timeline on each and every one of their offers and setting alerts on when to cancel them, and that's it they even realize that Spaceship uses "forever offers".

The last thing I need is to go back to the 1980's and have to manually keep track of an entire marketplace system in 2026. It's just more work for me, and something that an online system should be taking care of.

People complain about cached, lower-priced BINs being purchased, so I can say with certainty that this "forever offer" system will inevitably result in old, forgotten offers being exhumed by industrious buyers, at a discount price that was only intended for that point in time. Better not forget about those, or they'll be sitting on your account forever just waiting to be activated.

Thank you pointing this out. I would not be aware of this otherwise.

No problem and I didn't realize it either until someone else pointed this out to me.

Of course there might be someone out there who wants to use "forever offers" on their domain listings and that's fine, but at least give the rest of us the option of setting some kind of limit.

Just imagine the logistical nightmare of owning a huge portfolio that generates hundreds of offers a day. You'd have to hire a new employee just to keep track of the Spaceship negotiations.
