Is this new... I always thought it was 25 seconds

Please move if in wrong section!

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Hmm. Weird.
**gets ready to make a post after this to see what happens**

Yup.

Hmm, 59 seconds is a weird time. Why not 60 or 50 :P?

There are some new steps being taken to control the spamming on NamePros (it has been getting out of control). I suspect this is one of them. -RJ- has been very creative in implementing several new methods of discouraging/eliminating spammers who post a word or two everywhere they go just to build up their NP$. The end result is a much more pleasant experience while browsing the forums.

I think it is kinda good. But if people gonna spam the forum, they gonna still spam it no matter what.

Don't be so sure. There are steps being taken. Yes, there will always be 'some' spam, but most of it will be eliminated and spammers removed.

Only a max of 61 times in 1 hr

I still like the 59 seconds. Why not 60 seconds or something :P?

What happens if you are just a fast typer? ;)

It seems reasonable to me though :)

A better experience @ NP? I thought I was already there. :D

I knew we should have just installed Forumhaus :p

I know, I've run into that problem a few times, andI am in no way spamming the boards. This might be the only time it would pay to be slow typer.

Yes, it sure does. If we can lower the amount of crap that goes on, I'm all for it.

Yes, I was wondering too, about the 59 seconds. Was it to be funny? Because most forums have a 1 minute policy (60 seconds). I myself have also run into the problem of fast-typing being rejected. :) But overall, it looks like a good policy to me!

Don't know why 59 seconds was chosen, but it works for me! And although some 'fast typers' may run into an occasional delay, I think an important part of this is that people should give more thought to the post they are replying to and give a more thorough reply.

Another new change being implemented is the NP$ earning potential can be turned off for a particular member if they are obviously spamming their way through the forums.

Think 59 seconds maybe a bit long but hey lets see how it goes. If it helps the board become better and discourage spammers then well im all for it!!

The NPs community is built on its own sucess and i dont think any of us would liek it ruined and to collapse due to spammers wanting to make a fast buck from NPs!

I've hit the wall a couple times while making posts - generally I'll make a reply of "sold" in the marketplace while I'm looking at another thread and replying in another window. It's no biggie for me.

I have a question for the people asking why 59... Why does 59 matter anymore than 60? In the grand scheme of things, it's one less second you have to wait.

I don't think they were complaining about the 'one second'... I think they just found it odd that it would be 59 rather than an even 60.

I wasn't saying that they were...I'm simply asking why does it really matter so much to know?

very nice :) I like the 60 second post control. The spam problem should be reduced a lot because of the new rules that have been enforced lately. Good job crew!

Spam is one of the most annoying problems with large communities.

I think you should be exempt to the rule if thatโ€™s at all possible.
