Someone tried to sell my Domain!!

Just recieve an email from a know domain investor regarding a transaction request to sell my 5ft.com for $95.00.

I will not post this info from the buyer as he is the victim here but the scammer is
[email protected]

I sent my provider an email of the incident and sent the scammer a nice message!

The buyer was smart to ask for confirmation from the Whois address first and
forward it to me.

Here is my email to the scammer

Looks like the crook got caught. I cant understand the level of scamming that goes on in the net today. Its the reason people feel uneasy about the net and dont want to use it. Im glad this issue got sorted out, i hope the scammer knows to not do this again.

I hope so too.
Well he will get the message based on my reply. :hehe:

Wow, he acted like it was his domain name. But hey, this is a warning. Do not give money to someone you do not know..and claims he owns Google.com :)

This must be some kind of misunderstanding or typo. Perhaps the buyer mistook the extension and checked the whois for the .com instead of maybe another extension like the .cc. Nobody in their right mind would consider $95 for 5ft.com a fair price.

The scams that occur on the internet these days both amaze and sicken me. It really is shocking to see how far people will go sometimes.

For future reference, it's THIEF, not THEIF. :tu:

If everyone else is that smart, scams like this wouldn't have to occur.

Absolutely but most of the time the reason its a scam is because its such a great deal. Therefore most people send the money asap in hopes they get the name. Looks like this many went about it very smart.

Nice that you busted him. I hate scammers . . .these people have very low standards.

On a lighter note "mats sundin" - go leafs go (though this year is not going so well).

I would think it is mistake first, however if more than one person got the same thing
it must be scammer.

A suggestion, in future get a lawyer to issue scammers like these Cease & Desist letters, proceed legally & sue them for large sum of money.

And that is how they will learn.

I checked, and Matt definitely isn't the owner. What do you guys think the best way to reply is? Or no reply at all?

Tell him you definitely want to buy. You'll send payment immediately. All you need is his bank acc number, ssn, date of birth, home address and a faxed copy of passport, drivers license or birth certificate.
