Someone just grabbed VinylRecords.net for $34

I was the only bidder at $12 until last 5 mins. Someone bid $34, so i entered $50 bid, but suddenly i kept getting "Your bid has failed" error. I kept trying until time ran out.

Why does this happen? Ever happen to you? Somebody got a great name for dirt cheap.

But .net domains are not doing too well on the aftermarket.
How much do you think this name is really worth ? Probably nice to own but selling it for a good profit is more difficult.

This wasn't a flip, though I still feel it could have been an easy one.

@briguy is redirecting a domain to a affiliates link even permitted?

For amazon at least i think it goes against their terms.

I've got some clients that would easily pay $400-$500 for this domain though. Would've been an easy sale.

On topic, I've been experiencing a lot of glitches in GoDaddy's panels lately. Not during bidding in particular but still.

Those saying this is a crap domain don't realize that there is a huge market for vinyl these days.

The serps and typein score for this name alone give it value. Though i wasn't in love with the name in a vane sort of way; (being .net), i saw the value it could bring.

Anyways, this post was more about the error itself and not necessarily a discussion about the domain. I wanted to keep bidding but gd just would not allow it... that in itself was upsetting to me.

I would have gone well beyond $50 on this name tbh.

its becoming harder and harder every day to get super solid auction win deals ... with millions of experienced domainers worldwide spending their entire days looking for just that...

so at some point, and regardless of what we say here, you just gotta stop for a moment and ask yourself... if this was such a great deal and easy quick flip, why did it only end at $50.

if you ask yourself this, then you will have your answer.

cheers

All you should have done when it happened was to refresh your page or log out and log in again. It has happened to me several times and that is how i solved it lol.

I think, the price is okay, it's only .net after all. Don't be so sad (y)
I’ve sold many .net domains in the mid-high $x,xxx range

Anyways my plan wasn't to flip this domain. I could have, but would still hold onto it for some time either way.

I would've developed this one.

Even if he only flipped it for $100, he'd still have made a profit!

It once sold on namejet for over $500 in 2011, could have easily flipped it on there for probably the same again if not more

When you compare 2011 to 2018 pre gtld, I would consider that the golden age for .net, it was basically the #2 tier option outside of .com. As many predicted the gtld launch really caused a decline in .nwt pricing, especially with .web in the horizon it will further diminish .net.

That domain easily has a $5,052 reseller value and $10,050 end-user potential

Those are nice, yet oddly specific numbers.

I imagined if sold to end user maybe 2 or 3k.
