Remember, no one knew back then what was about to happen:

Check these appraisals:
http://www.namepros.com/domain-appraisals/3975-qee-com.html?highlight=letter

Check out the LLL.net’s:
http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-make-offer/4246-7-3-letter-nets.html?highlight=letter

Yup, people don’t remember that LLL’s once were pretty cheap, people had a hard time selling them:
http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-make-offer/5618-3-letter-dot-com.html?highlight=letter

Check out this .org:
http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-fixed-price/5943-5b-org-250-firm.html?highlight=letter

It kills me to see these deals for .nets; and remember, people were getting LLL.coms at snap for $60!!!
http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-make-offer/5906-3-letter-net-domain.html?highlight=letter

And then it started to go through the roof when everything started to get snapped up. I see the same thing happening right now with LLLL’s. Heck, back then I thought LLL’s were worthless, and not worth the time to hunt down something dropping for a snap.

But my eyes are wide open now. Hope you enjoyed the links.

about 5B.org $250 FIRM
Why is that worth so much? Sorry dont understand

5B.org is still parking page. It has no end-user interest but it HAS speculative interest. Most acronyms and especially character markets has little to do with real end-user interest. It's all about only supply and demand! Those who don't understand it perhaps will be always loosing money.

- Who needs GOLD? You can't it eat!
- Who needs LLLL.com? There are not enough end-users for them!

Nice blast from the past. Unfortunetly I was not really domaining at that time.

Wow, not 5 years later and the value has skyrocketed, slowly pulling everything within it's scope up along for the ride! A ride that won't soon end IMO.

Pronouncable, quality 5L.coms are just now starting to feel the tug and IMO will in 2-5 years be exploding like the LLL and LLLL.coms. Maybe sooner.

I think that LLLL.com are just starting. It's only 3 months after buyout. And till the end of year all prices will be yet incredible bargains if you will look at them from 2012 year. And domain newbies will be looking at these posts saying "I wish I was in domain business in 2008".

As to LLLLL.coms I doubt they will hype very soon.

Thanks for taking us back...Those were good days.

It makes me wonder if in 5 years, someone might look back at even the similar posts of today and garner some of the same amazement then. "Remember when LLL.com's were under $10k?" "Remember when LLL.net's were under $1k?"

What about in 10 and 20 years? With the internet, we're all still in a neat time of history still in the making.

Thanks,
- zesty

It's a tactic to get you bidding.

Ever tried to buy a domain from the seller Buydomains at Afternic? They bait you with a $250 offer price then respond with "negotiations for this domain start at $X,XXX"

Back then I was against the whole LLL thing, thought it was dumb and a waste of money; man was I wrong, and so were many others.

Italiondragon and others...

I had better clarify, as I occasionally get some negative mail about this issue. I am NOT the seller on Afternic named "zestynames" and am not in any way affiliated with this individual. This individual is, I believe, impersonating me, as they own 4character.com, which is very similar to my site, 3character.com, I suppose in order to get a big $ sale for the domain 4character.com.

I don't at all approve of this tactic, and it has resulted in my getting several recent emails and other communications of a negative nature.

Additionally, my afternic id is "drewphy"

I only own 1 LLLL.com, and my main focus is in LLL domains.

I hope this helps...no tactics on my part, just someone using a fuzzy connection via their afternic username to pawn 4character.com at the cost of my reputation (and I'm not pleased about it).

Thanks,
zesty

This is fantastic, digging up old history, infact I just asked about where to find the history of older 3LLL.com sales to find similar trends in 4LLLL.com and was refered to this post by vlad74 from the 4 L sales report thread.

Rep coming your way :)
