~ $100 to an end-user that really wants to start a forum on a few classic games. ;)

Kickin' it old school. Nice forum domain... build the forum for a couple months, drop ads on it and sell for $150ish .. good luck!

I think it could go higher for $150 after I get done developing it and advertise it and everything.

The domain is great for the classics. Hell with Tony Hawk skating games lol Gimme Zelda 3, Mega Man X and the first 3 Mortal Kombat games :) SNES is still a hot platform for old gamers -- the emulator is downloaded constantly. Once developed, you might get a lot more than $150, by far.

Development...development...development....you get the picture. The domain alone probably is not worth all that much, I'd say low $xx range simply because the specific SNES market probably isn't the largest. There's a lot of searches done (according to OVT) for roms and such and there are decent numbers on the SNES but I'm not convinced that a standalone forum name would pull that much.

If you develop, however, that's a different story.

I think I may have commented on this on another forum, but its worth bearing in mind that the Nintendo Wii will have backwards compatability through its 'Virtual Console'

Basically this means players can download pretty much the entire portfolio of SNES games onto the Wii console - so interest in this area is likely to increase, as is the need for things such as strategy guides, cheats etc

i would say low xx for the domain too i know on ebay people pay large amounts on old consoles and games so theres some value there

The likelihood of the name selling is low since you would need an end user wanting it. There is no OVT for Super Nintendo sorum(s) or SNES forum(s), so the reseller market for the name is low at best. The key is definitely development. The emulation community has somewhat died down, but the SNES is considered by many the greatest game system ever (me included!) so at least you have a winner in that regard. There are always communities of people that talk about classic games just like there are always communities of people that talk about classic movies and music. The problem would be that most people have already found their discussion groups (as illustrated by lack of searched for the forums as I pointed out), but it's still worth a try to develop.

If you make a forum, I would dedicate a section to the one thing with emulation and the old games that will always be somewhat fresh: speed runs. If you search online, you can find sites where they show speed runs on games. They are humbling to say the least...while neither of these examples are SNES, a couple games where the speed runs are simply insane are Mario 64 and Goldeneye. If you thought you were fast at either game, you have no idea! Anyways, there are active communities for that sort of thing, probably almost as prolific now as regular emulation communities, since that's a way to relive an old classic in a fresh way: Just how fast can you beat a certain level and/or the game?

So yea...best of luck on the development. SNES rules!

I doubt there's enough hardcore interest in SNES games and consoles to maintain a forum on it. This ship sailed almost 15 years ago. I love SNES, but this is one domain I would let drop.

well looking at overture snes and supernintendo get high results snes emulator gets even higher results so i would make sure you put a catergory for emulators in your forum and links to where you find emulators at
