The likelihood of the name selling is low since you would need an end user wanting it. There is no OVT for Super Nintendo sorum(s) or SNES forum(s), so the reseller market for the name is low at best. The key is definitely development. The emulation community has somewhat died down, but the SNES is considered by many the greatest game system ever (me included!) so at least you have a winner in that regard. There are always communities of people that talk about classic games just like there are always communities of people that talk about classic movies and music. The problem would be that most people have already found their discussion groups (as illustrated by lack of searched for the forums as I pointed out), but it's still worth a try to develop.
If you make a forum, I would dedicate a section to the one thing with emulation and the old games that will always be somewhat fresh: speed runs. If you search online, you can find sites where they show speed runs on games. They are humbling to say the least...while neither of these examples are SNES, a couple games where the speed runs are simply insane are Mario 64 and Goldeneye. If you thought you were fast at either game, you have no idea! Anyways, there are active communities for that sort of thing, probably almost as prolific now as regular emulation communities, since that's a way to relive an old classic in a fresh way: Just how fast can you beat a certain level and/or the game?
So yea...best of luck on the development. SNES rules!
