Snatching Expired Domain Names HELP

Is it possible to snatch good domain names without paying for services like pool.com, snapnames.com, etc.??

I had three powerful LLLL.Com Domain Names that the Pending Delete Phase ended today and they were available for sale again. Unfortunately I wasn't home for the 11am-2pm (Pacific Time) in which Verisigns Drops them. So I got home at 4pm (Pacific Time) and they were all taken. I knew this was going to happen because they were amazing domain names. But my question is if it's possible to snatch them by my own and save some money or are the services dedicated to this too hard to beat??? Expert Help Please. Thanks

Theoretically you can but practically it is not worth if you are after just a few names, as it requires a lot efforts and investment. You’d better acquire them through Pool, NameJet etc if your list is not very big.

These days any LLLL.com will get at least one backorder.
But yes you can still hand-reg good domains as long nobody bids on them. Often they get tasted too but after a few days most will be available again

Thanks for the replies guys. sdsinc, by tasted you mean that they are hold temporarily by someone but no one registers it so they are free to register again?? Please let me know I am new with Domains and still have a lot to learn. Thanks

Thanks. So basically if they drop the names during the 5 day period it might be an indicator that the name isn't bringing traffic or it isn't the big deal?

The tasters usually are after traffic... they release many otherwise decent names.

Most shorter domain names will be snapped up by someone using a drop catching service. However, there are a ton of keyword rich domain names that are dropping floating around available to be hand registered if you have the patience to search for them.

Some registrars like Name provides their users with a good tool to search for expired domain names!
