Means that in this moment SnapNames is trying to acquire the name you're ordered. In a few hours you will receive notification was it sucessful or not if the name is dropping or are you the only one bidder if the name is expired.

Just checked the whois and someone else now owns it, so clearly snap missed it. Useless service, the first time ive tried to backorder and they f it up. How can I find out which was the successful backorder company?

If the domain is dropping today, even if other company (NJ,Pool etc.) caught it - whois can't be updated - it usually takes 2-3 days to receive a domain from a backorder company to the winner (individual).

I guess you need to wait.

well it was pending delete couple of hours ago and now it has a new whois with a 2012 expiration date. So how can that be unless the new owner manually beat the dropcatcher?

Strange. Maybe was recovered, but don't think so.

Maybe more expirienced members would help.

wasent recovered because the new whois shows a new creation date, 2011 instead of 2001. Seams that a person can now manually beat the dropcatcher experts at their own game. Why bother with the added expense if they cant even beat tom dick or harry.

Maybe i'm being slightly unfair, but this is my first experience with them and it is a bitter pill to swallow to see that someone can hand reg a domain faster than a dropcatcher can grab it.

That's highly unlikely. If you you had a backorder at one of the big 3 dropcatchers, next to zero percent that a personally manually got it.

Remember, that Snapnames, Pool, Namejet, etc have literally hundreds of registrars in their arsenal.

All i'm saying that if what ive been told is true, that the whois doesent change for 2-3 days after a dropcatcher gets it, yet the whois of the domain is changed as of today. It was pending delete 3 hours ago, is now registered in a new name with creation date

Status: ok
Updated Date: 29-jul-2011
Creation Date: 29-jul-2011
Expiration Date: 29-jul-2012

Ive never dabbled in dropcatching before but this whole business regarding this domain stinks.

The new date means it was dropped and subsequently caught.

Of course it will take time to show new owner data, especially if there were multiple people on the backorder, they have to hold the auction, then process payment, then transfer it to the winner.

seems your right razor. The new whois does not list snapnames as the new owner, but another company supernameworld.com

Ive also just recieved confirmation that they did catch the domain for me and the payment will be processed in the next 24 hours.

With this being my first dealings with snapnames, I would have thought they would be on the new whois and thats what confused me. Anyways thanx for the help guys, repped.

If you have any doubts about SnapNames capturing the domain, then you should backorder at all 3, SnapNames, NameJet, and Pool. It doesn't cost you any more.
